Preventing weak passwords by reading your mind/

Beth Dichter's insight:

Here is a tool that will help you learn how secure your password is. Type in one letter and wait a second or two and you will see three possibilties that they believe will be the next character. A check means they did not guess your character, an x means they did. Students often believe that there passwords are secure and this tool may help them learn that they may not be as secure as they thought.

This is really very clever and a great way to get anyone, student or else, to consider password safety. Thanks for sharing.

Do you know how quickly a computer today could crack your password? This site will tell you. Type in your password and it will tell you how quickly it might be hacked.
Many folks have simple passwords or they never change them. It is a good idea to change your password periodically and to make passwords that combine upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols.

10 Super Geeky Tips for the New Year | The Daring Librarian | Eclectic Technology | Scoop.it

I'm usually not one for new year's resolutions. If I decide to do something the calendar doesn't matter & I've blown too many good resolutions to believe an arbitrary day will make a diff. BUT...there are a few things that are easily done & feels great for a SUPER GEEKY SAFE....errm Aware! New Year. (There is no *safe* on the Interwebs, only Aware!)

I love the Daring Librarian. She works in Washington D.C. and her social media stuff is fabulous. This is a scoop that she posted and I rescooped it.
