Ducati doesn’t want to cut axed MotoGP rider Nicky Hayden completely off its payroll in 2014 and will try and tempt the American to ride a Panigale in World Superbikes.

Personally I think this is a better solution for Nicky Hayden than riding around on a GP bike that can't win. SBK would see NH as the top ticket draw in the series and the chances of him getting the respect he richly deserves are excellent. And the US Ducati fans (and market) would love him all the same.

You know the deal with naked bikes: detuned motors, decontented suspension. But what if you want true supersport performance in a package that won’t break the back? The Ducati Streetfighter 848 may be that bike.

Watching the leather-suited gladiators of MotoGP racing is thrilling enough. But howling aroundMazda Raceway Laguna Seca on one of the world’s fastest motorcycles is much, much better.
With fans packing the stands prior to the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, that’s what I’m about to do. Fortunately, I’m sitting behind Randy Mamola, the retired MotoGP ace, for a once-in-a-lifetime, freak-show ride aboard Ducati’s latest MotoGP bike.

When BMW announced their withdrawal from the World Superbike Championship last week, people were genuinely shocked. When it was further rumoured that Aprilia could follow suit, debate started to emerge regarding the future of the production based series. If four factory (supported) bikes are removed from the grid, where does that leave us for 2014?Many seem shocked that new WSBK owners, Dorna, don’t seem to be doing much to prevent the manufacturers removing their factory teams from the series. However, what if this was all part of Dorna’s plan? What if Dorna were in fact deliberately looking to push factory teams out of World Superbikes? This is the case according to a certain paddock insider, who recently spoke to BikeSocial about the future of the championship.

(translated via Google)
Ducati has traced the lines of the heir of the 848 , a motion of "half" displacement that followed partially as seen on the 1199 Panigale , with a few caveats that can make us reflect on the future of the House Bolognese road.
The rumors and reports gathered exclusively by IFG are substantial and structural make up the puzzle of what we can tell, it will not be a motorcycle designed for racing by virtue of the FIM regulations that restrict the airspace of a twin.
If they wanted to build a Ducati Supersport "Stock" should opt for an engine from 799 cubic centimeters and deal with the technical commissions, so it was not: the next motion will be calledDucati 899 and will have that capacity.
The engine , of course 90 ° L-Twin engine , it will be completely new but built according to what has been seen on 1199. Of about 155 horsepower maximum power limiter set at 11,500 rpm .
Similarly, for 50%, philosophy telaistica: the engine will be carrier-type. The biggest news concerns the swingarm : Ducati abandoned the single-sided in favor of a new dual-sided "banana" , structure already used by Aprilia.
All eyes at EICMA 2013 , the International Motorcycle Exhibition to be held in November at the Fiera Milano-Rho: Ducati 899 could be the real surprise this year, only to be marketed in 2014.
I know - terrible translation but this is the first solid leak about this highly anticipated new model. EICMA this year should be a good one!

Motorcycling can be an expensive business. Speciality clothing, speciality tools, and that's before you even get to a bike and its parts.
Some of these are really obvious but a few of them are pretty clever...

Cal Crutchlow wants current crew chief Daniele Romagnoli to join him at Ducati in 2014 but insists he will not decimate his side of the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team when he leaves to join the Bologna factory. The 27-year-old has penned a two-year deal with Ducati and key personnel from his current French-based Tech 3 squad have been linked with a switch to help him tame the struggling Desmosedici.

Last month, Asphalt & Rubberbroke the news that Ducati was working on a scrambler-style machine, appropriately named the Ducati Scrambler.
The machine is said to be similar in design to the one Pierre Terblanche inked while he was with the Bologna Brand, though reports and sources have varied on what sort of motor the new model would use in its final form.
Whether it be water or liquid-cooled, single or twin-cylindered, the 2014 Ducati Scambler cometh, and A&Rhas the trademark application to prove it.

It’s hard to believe that five years have passed since Lou Saif held the first Ducati TT & F1 Symposium; an informal gathering of Ducati TT and F1 aficionados and machines at his shop in Queens, NY. While the event has grown to attract an International audience, it maintains the grass-roots flavor that has made it so popular and continues its celebration of Ducati’s 2V belt-drive racers from the 80’s.
2013 marks the 20th anniversary of the tragic passing of one of America’s great racers - Jimmy Adamo. Although he also raced Ducati bevel twins, early examples of the 4V racers and Cagiva’s 500GP bike, Jimmy rode the wheels off a number of TT1 and TT2-based machines during his career.
The 5th Annual Ducati TT & F1 Symposium will be dedicated to the late Jimmy Adamo and Team Leoni - and we’re fortunate to have an incredible assortment of his old rides. As of this date, the last of Jimmy’s mighty bevel racers will be there as well as the Mille-based racer that was trie d out during the ‘88 season. The TT2 based 750 is in the process of a restoration as is Jimmy’s final 750 TT1. The Cagiva 500 will be the along with his 851 racer and a fine collection of memorabilia.
Jimmy’s long-time tuner, Reno Leoni will be making the trip over from Italy to join us in celebrating the memory of this great racer and for the third year in a row, TT ace Tony Rutter’s tuner Pat Slinn will be making the trip over from the UK.

Suffering in the summer heat but don't want to break the bank on a jacket you'll only be able to wear for a couple more months?
Lots of good options here, although where we are at the moment, a rain suit review might be better!
The motorcycle accident attorneys at Ehline Law Firm PC want you to know that wearing motorcycle safety gear like this jacket can help prevent serious friction burns, chafing and other ailments that are experienced by fallen riders. "Out of Nothing," a documentary in the works about motorcycle land speed racing, features a heavy dose of Whatcom County, both on the screen and behind the cameras.
So it's fitting that one the county's most recognizable residents, comedian Ryan Stiles, is the face of an online appeal for donations to help finance the film's finishing touches.
Stiles, one of the documentary's producers, became involved with the project at the urging of fellow producer Andrew Lahmann of Bellingham, who had worked with Stiles on a pilot TV show

Carlos Checa: “The two races were quite similar. When it started to rain in race one I found it hard to immediately understand the limits; I slowed too much in that moment and then, once I’d got back into my rhythm, I’d lost too much time and was unable to reach those ahead of me. In the dry I was just about able to stick with the others this wasn't possible in the wet. In the second race it didn’t rain heavily until the later stages. There were points in which my bike ran quite smoothly and others in which I could feel the lack of power. But in those mixed conditions I made an evaluation and decided that there was no point taking risks for the little that I could have gained. Speaking in general about the whole weekend, the positive thing is that we have found a good setting in the dry, working well as far as the chassis and suspension is concerned and so I’m pleased from that point of view.”
Ayrton Badovini: “Today’s conditions were strange. I’m fairly happy because I wasn’t particularly fast during the weekend’s dry sessions but feel that I’ve taken a step forward today. In race 1 I made a good recovery but if the rain had arrived earlier I think I could have done even better. Race 2 was more complicated, I was a little bit hemmed in at the start and while there were drops of rain throughout the entire race it only came down heavy at the end. I think I made two solid top ten finishes considering the conditions and hope that at Nurburgring we have the opportunity to use the softer tyre that we were using prior to Moscow and are able to take another step forward.”

How did Ducati go from the first non-Japanese manufacturer to win a riders' title in over 30 years to no race wins in three seasons?
In 2007, at the dawn of the new 800cc era and five years after their return to Grand Prix racing, Ducati won the World Championship with Casey Stoner.
Since then, no-one but Stoner has brought the Desmosedici to victory and the team look far from adding to their one and only world title.
They have been accused of killing the career of Marco Melandri, and of nearly doing likewise to the untouchable Valentino Rossi.

Motorcycle gymkhana is perhaps the ultimate test of any road racer’s bike control. Navigating machines through courses of curves and cones, it boggles even this veteran rider’s mind at the level of precision that goes into every maneuver, and every video of these special events is a free tutorial on the benefits of smooth throttle, brake, and clutch actuation. It’s not like we need a real good reason to post up today’s installment, but someone finally figured out that a counterbalanced rotary video rig would be an awesome point-of-view perspective for this form of two-wheeled racing.
