It's no secret that 2006 MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden's favorite era of MotoGP was the first chapter--when 990cc Monsters ruled the earth, when horsepower was king and electronics was not one of the overwhelmingly important factors in MotoGP racing. After that several phrases were embedded in the racer lexicon: Colin Edwards' "You're only as good as your programmer" and one fan's Jeff Spicoli-like summation "Traction control is a buzz kill".

AMA Pro Racing announced today that the premier AMA Pro SuperBike class will return to the DAYTONA 200 in 2015. The 2015 edition of AMA Pro Road Racing's kickoff event will be a 69-lap race contested on Daytona International Speedway's 2.91-mile short course.
Suddenly I am interested in the Daytona 200 again.

The 1970’s Ducati Super Sport defined a new era and a new line of thinking for Ducati. A philosophy that would lead to the creation of the modern Superbike. Only around 430 to 450 have been produced and custom builder Bryan Fuller is one of many who, a few years back, fell in love with the 1974 green frame after admiring one at The Barber Motorsports Museum. MotoGP series organizer Dorna appears to be pursuing a new strategy in its agreements with TV broadcasters. Where previously, Dorna had been fixed on securing deals with free-to-air broadcasters, recent deals have seen them agree terms with pay-per-view channels, in pursuit of higher revenues.
Spain is the latest market to see this development. The existing deal with Telecinco has been blown open, with Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica taking over some of the broadcasting from Telecinco. Telecinco will show 9 races live, and a further 10 on a delayed schedule.

The second day of pre-season IRTA testing at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia saw progress being made by both Ducati Team riders, Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow, who both tested only the GP14′s.

Ducati's Cal Crutchlow was coy when quizzed on speculation the manufacturer was set to enter the MotoGP 'Open' class but admitted he could see 'positives' in making the change.
Crutchlow was speaking on the first day of the official Sepang MotoGP test, where he tested both the GP13 and GP14 versions of the Desmosedici.
The British star jokingly dodged a question from reporters over the potential for a switch to the 'Open' rules this season, saying: “I know nothing about it. Is there an Open class?”

Niccolo Canepa is setting his sights high ahead of the new season as Althea Racing pulled the wraps off its Ducati entry for the 2014 World Superbike Championship EVO class.
The Italian firm, title winners with Carlos Checa and Ducati in 2011, return to the manufacturer in 2014 after a year collaborating with Aprilia, but will be concentrating its efforts in the newly-created EVO class.
The only Ducati 1199 Panigale to be entered into the EVO category, the manufacturer will provide Althea Racing assistance in its quest to lift the inaugural trophy, as well as give it a reference point for regulations that are expected to influence the entire series in 2015.
