I received an email recently from Dorna Sports/WorldSBK.com with an offer to “pre-order” the SBK 14 Official Mobile Game. Everything about it looks like business as usual, a completed game that is coming soon, except when you click on PRE-ORDER NOW it takes you straight to a crowd funding site called FansFlock. Right now FansFlock has one project and one project only, the SBK 14 game, but possible project categories are Music, Film/TV shows, Celebrities, Video Games, Arts, Books & Literature, Sports & Recreation, Popular Brands, Fashion & Design and Schools. To be honest, I would have bet good money that you could not approach Dorna with a completely unfunded project and gotten then to send an email to thousands of people for money. So that happened.
I was also contacted by a group of college guys crowd funding a motorcycle safety project that seems to me to be what I would describe as “worthy”. For the rest of this article click HERE

Great Result for Ducati Superbike Team
Donington (Great Britain), Saturday 24 May 2014 - The Tissot-Superpole sessions ahead of tomorrow’s fifth round races for the 2014 eni FIM World Superbike Championship were held in cold and wet conditions at Donington Park. After yesterday’s dry free practices the FP4 session this morning proved to be all important ahead of the two grid deciding sessions this afternoon.
At the second chequered flag it was Davide Giugliano (Ducati Superbike Team) who claimed his second career pole position, by lapping the Leicester track in 1’44.903. Joining the Italian rider on the front row in both races tomorrow will be Leon Haslam (Pata Honda World Superbike Team) and Marco Melandri (Aprilia Racing Team).
Row two comprises Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki), Sylvain Guintoli (Aprilia Racing Team) and Loris Baz (Kawasaki Racing Team). In the session Guintoli, Rea and Giugliano all crashed and remounted after posting their fastest times.
Making it through from Superpole 1, Toni Elias (Red Devils Roma Aprilia) and Ayrton Badovini (Team Bimota Alstare) joined the already seeded riders after the combined Free Practices. Leon Camier (BMW Motorrad Italia) and Jeremy Guarnoni (MRS Kawasaki) both crashed out unhurt at the fast Starkeys section of the track before posting a time. The pair were joined by an unlucky Badovini who also fell spectacularly at the end of the session on the fast uphill left hander, resulting in him not being able to take part in the second session. Niccolò Canepa (Althea Racing Ducati) had a slow speed crash at the Melbourne Hairpin while Fabien Foret (Mahi Team India Kawasaki) elected not to ride in the session.
Times: 1. Giugliano (Ducati) 1'44.903 average 138.059 kph; 2. Haslam (Honda) 1'45.009; 3. Melandri (Aprilia) 1'45.111; 4. Lowes (Suzuki) 1'45.258; 5. Guintoli (Aprilia) 1'45.839; 6. Baz (Kawasaki) 1'46.058; 7. Sykes (Kawasaki) 1'46.241; 8. Rea (Honda) 1'46.306; 9. Elias (Aprilia) 1'46.326; 10. Laverty(Suzuki) 1'47.963; 11. Davies (Ducati) 1'50.099; 12. Badovini (Bimota); 13. Iddon (Bimota); 14. Corti (MV Agusta); 15. Andreozzi (Kawasaki); 16. Canepa (Ducati); 17. Salom (Kawasaki); 18. Camier (BMW); 19. Foret (Kawasaki); 20. Guarnoni (Kawasaki).

Yesterday we posted a Cycle World guesstimate of the expected to be revealed Ducati Scrambler which showed what I would describe as a very modern baby Hypermotard. Today we are re-posting a shot from last October sourced from the Swiss publication Acidmoto.ch showing what appeared to be a disguised but road going Scrambler prototype.

I really think I liked it better pre-internet when all the rumors stopped with the sweep of a bright red cloth at EICMA. Pure glamour, those were the days.

At the upcoming EICMA show in Milan this fall, Ducati will unveil a new Scrambler. The Scrambler of the ’70s, you might recall, was an evolution of a previous 250cc enduro model named the Motocross. US importers Mike and Joe Berliner saw a lot of potential in the concept, even visiting Borgo Panigale and laying down the sketch of the bike they wanted, largely inspired by the 250 dirt-trackers that were successfully derived from the Ducati250 Diana.

I'm confused. This guesstimate illustration is a purely modern bike using the Scrambler name, not a tribute to the beloved classic we were hoping for. Guess we'll just have to wait for Milan.

Senior Editor Blake Conner had an exclusive 10-lap ride aboard Ducati’s exotic 1199 Superleggera in Mugello.
Mugello, Italy—As a teenager, I was convinced that there could be nothing better than being a rock star. Thankfully, a lack of musical talent saved me from a monotonous life spent fighting off supermodels, eating caviar, and driving Lamborghinis like rental cars. Maybe I missed my calling, but I certainly enjoyed the limelight recently at the Mugello circuit in Italy, where I had an exclusive 10-lap ride aboard Ducati’s exotic 1199 Superleggera.

The new General Manager of Ducati Corse this year, Luigi Dall’Igna has already been able to enjoy a podium finish as well as a front row start. Following the French Grand Prix at Le Mans, the Italian spoke with motogp.com about the latest developments at Borgo Panigale, the changes with the bike and his relationship with the riders.
Quite a bit of information here. Also it's clear there are three riders for 2 positions and the media has become a willing participant in the contract battle of Andrea Iannone. (See yesterday's "little scoop" from AI's manager)

Bloomberg's Matt Miller is bringing a manly edge to the buttoned-up world of financial news.
On a clear day last October, Bloomberg TV anchor Matt Miller stood on the corner of York Avenue at 79th Street, staring across the stream of traffic at the spot where five months earlier he had nearly died. “Crazy,” he muttered, limping back to the curb. The 40-year-old looked the part of a television personality: He wore a camel sport coat over a Brooks Brothers shirt, tennis racket cuff links, and Diesel jeans with an alligator belt. Only the hiking boots seemed off.
“I need them for ankle support,” Miller said.
A former anchor of Rewind on Bloomberg TV, Miller covers business (and increasingly Bitcoin). He is also an automotive-industry reporter, a gig with serious perks. He is rarely without a luxury sedan or sports car — think Aston Martins, Bentleys, and Ferraris — provided by the automakers for his segments. Weekends often find him test-driving these vehicles at the Monticello racetrack in New York and at Lime Rock in Connecticut. Last week, he raced Lamborghini Aventadors at the New Jersey Motorsports Park, and rode every model of Ducati motorcycle in the Catskills with the company’s head of North American sales. This week, he’s heading off to California to race Audi R8s against the U.S. CEO.
Interesting story, real deal Ducati guy...

Carlo Pernat, manager for Andrea Iannone has thrown Andrea Iannone's silly season hat into the ring with a quote given to GP-inside.com when asked "Please, Mr. Pernat, you have a small scoop for us? ".
The man, who is also the agent for Alex De Angelis, Loris Capirossi and the late Marco Simoncelli smiles, takes the time to reflect and, after a few seconds silence, replied: "You want a scoop? Andrea Iannone, 50% Ducati, Suzuki 50%."

Dripping in magnesium, carbon fibre and titanium, and boasting the highest power-to-weight ratio of any production bike, the 200bhp, 155kg 1199 Superleggera is the most exclusive Ducati ever built.
Only 500 will be made and they're all sold already, but we managed to grab one to ride at Mugello, the bike's spiritual home.
See the video HERE
Good review. Because of the access to the raw parts for explanation purposes, I think this is going to be about a definitive look at this bike you will see.

It’s not often we hold the front page, throw our schedule out the window and then go chasing a builder for “permission to post” but when this Ducati 750 Sport by JvB-Moto appeared on the inter-web a few of us in the Bike Shed had a small underpants accident. Ok, as occasional Ducati riders we might be biased, but whatever your biking persuasion we think this bike has something for everyone. And with the 750 sport as a base, weighing-in at just 155 kg, you know it’s an amazing bike to ride just by looking at it.

Interesting. Maybe even fair. But to me it feels like a step towards the series handing over the Rossi scepter.
