Andrea Iannone reckons he’d have been ‘stupid’ to quit Ducati just when the Bologna factory is embarking on a radical re-design of its struggling Desmosedici machine.
The Italian has been promoted to Ducati’s official factory squad for this season after Cal Crutchlow’s shock U-turn to quit and join LCR Honda, just days after committing his future to a Desmosedici last summer.
Had Crutchlow stayed with Ducati, Iannone would have been left in the satellite Pramac squad for a third successive season, though he would have had full factory support having penned a new two-year deal.
Iannone spoke to Suzuki and LCR Honda about a 2015 deal, but he said his dream was always to remain with Ducati.
The 25-year-old impressed in his second season on finicky Desmosedici and scored six top six top finishes, with a best of fifth in Germany, Brno and Misano after an injury ravaged rookie season in 2013.
Iannone, who also claimed five front row starts last season, told MCN: “I thought I was...

If you’re looking for Niskayuna High School teacher Rich DeSimony on a Friday afternoon, you’ll find him tinkering with a custom Ducati in Nisky Garage.
Well, not his garage, exactly. And not by himself, with a beverage and a radio. Instead, he does his work in the Niskayuna High School technology wing, guiding six or seven high school kids. They’re about the same age he was when he puzzled together his first motorcycle.

If you’re after an expensive, exotic, naked Italian superbike it has to look good – whether you’re parading up and down the Kings Road or, in our case, the streets of Bologna. Which is where MV Agusta’s new Brutale 800 RR comes in – an Italian super-naked which raises exotica levels to a new high. But does it? And, if so, is it worth over £11,500 for what is still ‘only’ an 800? To find out we decided to pit the new MV against the definitive example of the Italian naked genre, Ducati’s Monster 1200S, a bike which has much of what the MV offers, for a similar price and yet is a full 1200. The similarities don’t end there. Both are from desirable brands, each with a long history of racing success, and both have that wow factor. Both also have single-sided swingarms, lightweight race wheels, and racing Brembo brakes which are ABS assisted. They also have similarly-styled trellis frames, although the MV’s is the more traditional, as the Ducati uses the engine as a stressed...

Series Premieres Jan. 28 on Velocity - Ducati bike build episode from Moto Corse Performance: Airs 2/11 @ 10:00pm
When money and ego come together you wind up with a
Ducati that weighs less than a dirt bike and in a challenge that, realistically, you have no chance of winning. Moto
Corse’s Chris Boy is a whiz at building Italian sport bikes and his challenge is to turn a used $3000 Ducati into a
six-figure track bike worthy of helping him beat Ben Bostrom on a track.

Andrea Iannone says he is relishing the challenge of trying to seize the number one spot at Ducati from fellow Italian Andrea Dovizioso in 2015.
Iannone will join his compatriot in Ducati’s official factory squad next season after Cal Crutchlow switched to LCR Honda.
Briton Crutchlow initially pledged to honour the second year of his Desmosedici deal before landing a golden chance to replacing Stefan Bradl on a factory RC213V.

Italian bike maker Ducati is known for its powerful, high-tech and pricey motorcycles. That is why its latest entry, the Scrambler, is causing a stir among brand loyalists. Starting at $10,000, the bike weighs around 400 lbs and has only 75HP. But it is not just the specs that set this bike apart, it's the style. Bloomberg's Hannah Elliott test drives the bike in Palm Springs, California. By Alyssa Zahler, Amy Marino.

If Ducati boss Gigi Dall’Igna has one regret about last year, it was the failure of Cal Crutchlow to pose a stronger threat on a factory-backed Desmosedici machine.
Dall’Igna believes Isle of Man-based Crutchlow would not have toiled so much at Ducati had the Italian technical guru been able to dedicate more time to helping the ex-Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider adapt to the Desmosedici.
But so much of Dall’Igna’s focus was dedicated to improving the GP14 and the design and development of the the radical new GP15 that will be rolled out next season that he could not commit as much time as he’d have liked to helping Crutchlow progress.
The British rider did at least bowing out of Ducati with a bang more than a whimper after he followed up a first Desmosedici podium in Motorland Aragon with a first front row start stunning podium challenge in Phillip Island.
Prior to his end of season resurgence Crutchlow had scored just five top 10 finishes all season and Dall’Igna told MCN: “It is...

Cal Crutchlow feels his crash at Austin early in 2014 was the main reason he failed to thrive in the Ducati MotoGP team, rather than any lack of affinity with the Desmosedici
