Soziale Netzwerke sind Plattformen im Internet, auf denen die Mitglieder freiwillig persönliche Angaben wie Alter, Beziehungsstatus, private Interessen oder die derzeitige Lebenssituation beschreiben und sich untereinander vernetzen (deshalb "Netzwerk"). Darüber hinaus hat man die Möglichkeit, private Fotos (oft auch Videos) hochzuladen und seiner eigenen Persönlichkeit zum Beispiel durch den Beitritt in bestimmte Gruppen Ausdruck zu verleihen. Das Ziel besteht generell darin, mit anderen Benutzern in Kontakt zu treten und sich auszutauschen. Dabei entstehen schnell Sympathien und Zugehörigkeitsgefühle, sogar dann, wenn man sein virtuelles Gegenüber im realen Leben gar nicht kennt. Die Kommunikation geschieht meist über öffentliche Pinnwandeinträge, private Direktnachrichten, Live-Chats und/oder Diskussionen in Gruppen.

It may seem like a joke to others when posting, but it's actually heartbreaking as bullying leads to so many things like depression, suicide and even low self-esteem. so, if people do not learn to use media in a good way many people are still going to be victims of bullying and cyberbullying.

Rehtaeh Parson's story is tragic, but hopefully her story has helped take one small step towards ending cyber bullying. An image of her was passed around after she was raped by four men, and she was bullied so much that she felt the need to end her own life. It is stories like Rehteah's that get attention, although the attention came too late for her. Hopefully now, a life can be saved, justice can be found for some, and cyber bullying and trolling can be put to a stop.

PHILADELPHIA -- A young boy who was the victim of bullying has died, according to his family. Bailey O'Neill, who turned 12 on Saturday, was in a coma after suffering several seizures.
Bailey's family says he was jumped by two classmates during recess at Darby Township School last January and suffered a concussion as well as a broken nose as a result. He then began to suffer seizures the next day, forcing doctors to put him into a medically induced coma. Joy Fecanin, the boy's grandmother, told NBC10's Katy Zachry that he had to have a blood transfusion after getting pneumonia.

Abstract
This study provides an overview of the extent, scope and forms of cyberbullying in the EU taking into account the age and gender of victims and perpetrators as well as the medium used. Commissioned by the Policy Department for Citizens' Rights and Constitutional Affairs at the request of the LIBE Committee, the study illustrates the legal and policy measures on cyberbullying adopted at EU and international levels and delineates the EU role in this area. An analysis of legislation and policies aimed at preventing and fighting this phenomenon across the 28 EU Member States is also presented. The study outlines the variety of definitions of cyberbullying across EU Member States and the similarities and differences between cyberbullying, traditional bullying and cyber aggression. Moreover, it presents successful practices on how to prevent and combat cyberbullying in nine selected EU Member States and puts forward recommendations for improving the response at EU and Member State levels.

Internet est un espace public. Par ce fait, chacun est libre de s’y rendre et par la même, d’y apporter sa contribution en mettant en ligne des contenus. Mais être un espace public signifie également que les Lois et le Code Pénal s’y appliquent. C’est ainsi qu’il existe un certain nombre d’actes et de propos pouvant contrevenir aux textes de Lois en vigueur au Luxembourg ou aux bonnes mœurs de la société, au rang desquels figurent :
De ces contenus découlent l’objet du projet BEE SECURE Stopline qui a pour but de proposer au public d’agir civiquement en signalant ces types de contenus lorsque ceux-ci sont rencontrés sur Internet, qu’ils s’agissent de messages postés dans des forums, blogs ou sites web, ou des images ou vidéos représentant ou promouvant ce type d’actes.

Dans un récent arrêt (C-131/12, 13 mai 2014), la Cour de justice de l'Union européenne a estimé que certains utilisateurs ont le droit de demander aux moteurs de recherche de supprimer des résultats de recherche qui incluent leur nom, lorsque le droit à la protection de la vie privée des individus prévaut sur l'intérêt de présenter ces résultats de recherches.

This anti-bullying poster is absolutely perfect for posting on your classroom website or on your bulletin board. We at Edudemic love it.
Supports an iPad book called "It's Okay to be Different" (via Story Panda). Beautiful but simple message.
This is the best anti-bullying poster I think I've ever come across. The visual would be perfect in an elementary classroom, and the poster covers all areas from glasses to adoption to stuttering. Let's celebrate our differences!

EU Awareness Raising Campaign on Cyberbullying
We can come up with hundreds of ways to raise awareness on cyberbullying, but how do we actually know that people are getting the message? The best way is to give students, teachers and parents the most knowledge on cyberbullying, so that we can take the topic more seriously. The Big March is a virtual protest against cyberbullying that contains:
- An EU conference
- An awareness raising video in 10 different languages
- A virtual Big March against cyberbullying
- A free app available in Google Play store
The project contains a video that shows what the Big March is all about. A group of students who are left with bruises, scars and tears, all walking in one direction while dressed in their school uniforms. The video shows unity, courage and strength from the ones effected by bullying.
