Wow, i think it is amazing what they are doing. I would definitively take this cruise opportunity, it is super cheap and it includes a lot. think it is good that cruise lines are starting to use ipads more and more every day.

This is an amazing program!! I know a lot of people that go on cruise's about 4 to 5 times a year; my grandmother is one of them. People in that position would truely appreciate and love this! I agree with Ezell, this is definitely going to attract more people! This is so cool, instead of getting collecting flyer miles, now people can collect cruise miles lol! Awesome!!!

This is awesome!!!, I can't believe I am already a member and I did not know it. I cruised with Carnival 2 years ago and I loved it. I will be cruising with them again hopefully after my Graduation this May 1st. Can not wait for this day to come. I love this Idea and I think it will make it better for the customer experience.

This is a great article offering tons of special offers and information for those who love traveling and would like to take advantage of such adventures for the year 2013. Some of these offers are Europe Getaways which sound very fun and I myself would love to be part of one. Great information to pass along. :)

I cannot believe that several articles are written about people rescued by the cruise ships.. I'm just wondering what is this particular person was thinking about and how was he planning to travel around the world. What if the cruise ship wasn't around.. This sounds scary to me. Other than that, it's great that modern ships have these great technologies that can define where the accident happened and find the person so fast. Also, great communication skills of the crew should be rewarded.

I question why the french man was even traveling around the world in his yacht by himself. It seems really silly to me. He was fortunate and lucky that the Orion was generous enough to rescue him considering they had a specific schedule. I like hearing stories like these because I can completely relate in the sense of being rescued by another ship. :) I'm also glad to read that the cruiseline offered passengers a partial refund since they missed a few ports.

During my maritime law class with Professor John Thomas, we addressed the issue of cruise ship rescues. I'm not 100% positive, but I believe that the ships have a legal obligation to rescue others in apparent danger. I know there's been several lawsuits filed against cruise lines for "purposely" neglecting stranded boaters. While falling behind schedule, and missing or unscheduled port stops can have grave consequences, one of the biggest considerations is fuel costs. It usually takes up to a few miles for a moving ship to stop. There aren't brakes that stop the boat though. The ship must be put into disengage (reverse) in order for the propellers to reverse direction to pull instead of push- eventually causing the ship to stop. Also, the length of time stopped during the rescue is using up a great deal of fuel. It really puts quite a strain on the ship, as well as the company. However, it's still quite a heroic rescue

It is very pleasant to know that the Disney Dream crew did an outstanding job by rescuing two U.S. citizens lives at the sea. These type of actions have to be rewarded.

Wow, that is why people shouldn't think they could never get hurt or lost and go by themselves sailing. Just going to the beach by ourselves is dangerous imagine going sailing to the sea by ourselves. Hope he learned his lesson but im glad he's ok.

Before reading this article i was clueless as to what a scrubber was or how it operated. context clues obviously pointed to some sort of filter to reduce pollution; I wasn't too far off. "Scrubber' systems are a diverse group of air pollution control devices that can be used to remove some particulates and/or gases from industrial exhaust streams" Although NCL isn't the first to implement Scrubber systems, they sure are doing their part in trying to help lower their impact on the environment.

At first it could be a huge investment for the cruise line but in the long run it reduces costs in labor. To reduce inspection not only by an hour but by 3, that is very significant!

I have always been fascinated by rogue waves. I learned about them first in my marine biology class in high school. Theyre so interesting and how they just appear out of no where. When wyou really start to think of it though its terrifying. If i were to be out on a cruise and a rogue wave would appear everyone on the ship could die. I hope these researchers can find some way to predict or prepare for these waves and hopefully save lives.

There are four things that they want to change.Fees, Improving excursions, Getting healthier food and focusing on safety. Out of those four I like the idea of charging less fees since I am a young person and never been on a cruise. This would attract a lot of people that have never been on a cruise.

This seems like lengthy and time consuming process. And I also can see security issues here as these Ipads are handeled by many hands. On my recent cruise on Norwegian cruise line, I have utilized inetractive television (http://www.allin.com/) It have all the fetures mentioned in the article. It allows you to book restaurant, view spa menu, make reservation, order movie, pay onboard bills and on top of all play in virual casino. Tall the option are in several languages and are easy to navigate.

What the article conveyed to me is that RCCL poorly implemented the introduction of new technology to the cruise ship to accommodate the needs of passengers. RCCl made an substantial investment in hardware, about 3,000 iPads, without having the proper infrastructure in place to support such hardware. In addition, the hardware, iPad, should never have been acquired but a mobile application could have more than satisfied the dynamic of the business plan intended with the introduction of the iPad to the cruise environment. This project is an example of poor management and a corporate impulse purchase without looking at the long term effects associated with adopting new technology and hardware. RCCL should focus more on their pending relationship with 3BNetworks and their high speed satellite data services before purchasing hardware with no access to the internet. Customers currently have their own devices what they need are data access and applications to support access to the data.

They have upgraded the staterooms with new furnishing and upholstery. Renovations excite customers because they have something new to experience and look forward of being a part of it.

Nowadays, the mature cruise market need to bring new and friendly idea for different customer group. The Royal princess is the one to come up with more ideas to lure kids and teenager customers. Disney cruise is the biggest competitor in this area, but Royal princess have the new activities, such as art projects, game tables, pizza parties, definitely will share the market with Disney cruise in kids and teenagers group.
Jessica Carolina Montoya's comment,

I completely agree with Mengxin Lou, Yes disney is the biggest competitor but then again disney targets kids not teens in my opinion. Therefore, i think its an amazing idea to create a section in a ship just for teens not so much of kids .
Katherine Dollface Hepburn's comment,

I agree with Jessica Carolina Montoya about the teen activities. I think older teens, 15 to 17 years old, there should be a, late-night parties in the disco every night, and afternoon Ping-Pong tournaments and sport challenges. Younger teens, 12 to 14 years old, have their own parties earlier in the evening, with later-evening activities such as pizza hangouts, and game nights. There should also be teen spa services and a discounted teen shore excursion program where the kids vote on which tour to take. So that you would have a idea what teens are interested in.

American Cruise Lines, being a small ship operator is thinking BIG. Costumers love being part of loyalty programs and receiving free stuff, so by giving out some reward program like the ones offered by hotels like Marriott or airlines like American Airlines will make this cruise line more popular and increase their revenue. It is a great marketing strategy!!

Loyalty Programs are very important for Cruise Lines. Just as with Airlines, we as consumers are always comparing how we are being rewarded....the right program makes us as customers feel special, important, and valued. It makes us feel like we belong and we want to keep coming back!

River cruising seem more familiar with me as there is similar service in Japan called Yakatabune. Although there is no enormous ocean view in river cruising, passenger can enjoy variety views on river side. It would be good opportunity to enjoy more regional view from different view points. If the seasonal difference appear significantly on the river side view, it would be a unique attractive in River Cruising

I am a very big fan of the Disney company. I really like how they stay true to the Disney magic in everything they do. I really enjoyed reading about the Ratatouille restaurant!! I thought its a very cleaver way to incorporate a character into a more up scale dining location. I also really liked how the dinner server follows the guests to the different restaurants, it makes their experience that much more personable. It allows for the guests to make connections with the crew members, which just like in the parks, they are the ones who make the magic come to life (for guests of all ages).

Disney is always full of surprises. I havnt been on a disney cruise ever but i have visited Disney World Orlando, and I always found their skits and shows marvelous. I have no doubt that this new addition skit, "Pirates of the Carribean" will be breath taking. Not to mention that putting a show on a ship with limited space, is very creative. Also their theme is a real theme that happens all the time at sea. That alone is a lesson for the guest to get an inside look on what really takes place when pirates attack.

This sounds interesting although cruises are already pretty much floating hotels. However, I suppose the fact that it will be an actual 5 star hotel will give passengers a more luxurious experience; especially those who go on cruises more to relax or events than those who go to visit other ports or do wild activities onboard. Who knows, maybe it will cause a chain reaction like chrissy mentioned. I think the QE2 themed museum is pretty cool. It'll be a delight for history travelers.

I absolute loveeeeeee the sound of this and agree with both Krissy, Chrissy and Tiffany. I have ever thought of this oncept where there would be a five-star service on sea, but why not? There are many high class travelers that would take joy in having this service from a different aspect rather than just vacationing in a five star hotel. Not only will they have the privilege of that, but they now ave a chance to appreciate the history of QE2. Like Chrissy and Tiffany mentioned, I truly believe this will cause a chain reaction here others would want to pursue a similar experience for their guests because this is truly one to remember!

I like the kid's friendly faculty because they treat kids as one guest equal to adult. Like on a place, kids are quite sensitive to different environment and also easy to get bored. In addition to that, as it took much more time to stay on ship more care for kids would be needed in order to avoid large kids cry everywhere. Small kids do not need to be cause of travel limitation so I hope more cruising industry to introduce kids friendly faculty, event and service.

I really like the fact that for children of every age there is a program that allows them to spend time on various activities without their parents having to worry about them during the day. It is really remarkable that there are programs for kids from the age of 3-17 years. As well as allowing the parents of babies 6 months and older to pre order the necessities of their baby.
