Davos: Closing gender gap 'good for business', says Lloyd's boss

Davos: Closing gender gap 'good for business', says Lloyd's boss | Closing the Gender Gap | Scoop.it
As the first female head in the 325-year history of the Lloyd's of London insurance market, Inga Beale is something of a shining light at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where gender equality is a key theme this year. The London insurance market is "completely out of kilter" even with the male-dominated world of the top corporate boardroom in London, she said, with around four percent of executives being women -- to its own detriment, according to Beale.
Pat Heffernan's insight:

Kudos to new CEO for speaking out, yet Davos itself has a long way to go to close its #gendergap.

Pat Heffernan's insight:

There no doubt about it in my mind. A recent Bloom & Gross study shows there still is a salary gap between men and women in the PR industry…sometimes as much as $42,000 per year. (And while the vast majority of those who work in the PR industry are female, the top management at the largest PR firms are male.)
