The stated purpose for this grant is to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities in Los Angeles County specifically related to DUI, running red lights, distracted driving related to cell phone use and hit and run incidents, among others. All of these areas are in great need of further law enforcement efforts in my opinion. Distracted driving continues to be one of the leading causes of traffic collisions and Los Angeles has seen a rash of hit and run incidents in the past several years.
