U.S. Army veteran disabled in crash awarded $18 million after rejecting $12,500 settlement offer from Progressive | California Car Accident and Injury Attorney News | Scoop.it
A Jefferson County circuit court jury awarded a U.S. Army veteran $18 million in damages from a 2015 accident that left him with mental and physical disabilities.
Steven M. Sweats insight:

As motor vehicle accident attorneys, we love seeing stories like this one where an Army vet with a brain injury rejected a "take it or leave it" offer of $12,500 from Progressive Insurance and was awarded $18 Million by a jury.  These types of low-ball offers are made all the time by major car insurance companies.  It is only through to work of trial lawyers willing to take the case the distance that justice can be served in these cases.

Steven M. Sweats insight:

The civil justice system in Los Angeles had come to a virtual standstill.  No filing of new lawsuits was possible and current case trial dates were continued out for a significant period of time.  In our opinion, this incentivized insurance companies to make low ball offers and use one of their main weapons: delay, delay, delay.  "Justice delayed is justice denied!"  We're glad to see the Los Angeles County courthouses begin to re-open!
