Multi-vehicle crash snarls traffic on I-15 - San Diego, California News Station - KFMB Channel 8 - cbs8.com

Multi-vehicle crash snarls traffic on I-15 - San Diego, California News Station - KFMB Channel 8 - cbs8.com | California Car Accident and Injury Attorney News | Scoop.it
A SigAlert issued Monday caused major traffic delays for morning commuters heading northbound on Interstate 15.
Steven M. Sweat's insight:

These multi car freeway accidents are, thankfully, not as frequent as one might think but, when the do happen, they usually result in major injuries and or fatalities.  Fault in this types of freeway traffic collisions usually lies with one or more of three things: (1) Following too closely or "tailgating" in violation of Californai Vehicle Code section 21703; (2) Making an unsafe lane change in violation of California Vehicle Code section 21658; or (3) Traveling at an unsafe speed for road conditions including traffic congestion in violation of California Vehicle Code 22350.

Man High On Meth Drives Wrong Way Down Freeway, Causes Multi-Vehicle Pileup

Man High On Meth Drives Wrong Way Down Freeway, Causes Multi-Vehicle Pileup | California Car Accident and Injury Attorney News | Scoop.it
A 54-year-old man high on methamphetamine drove his truck the wrong way on the 14 Freeway Monday afternoon, causing a nine-vehicle chain reaction pileup that injured 13 people.
Steven M. Sweat's insight:

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs continues to be a major cause of accidents on our California freeways.  In this case, a 54 year old who was high on methamphetamine went the wrong way on the freeway causing a multi car pile up accident.  California Vehicle Code section 23152 provides as follows: "It is unlawful for any person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage or drug, or under the combined influence of any alcoholic beverage and drug, to drive a vehicle."  If driving under the influence causes injury and property damage (as in this case), there are enhanced criminal consquences for such action.

Car Accidents Caused by Intoxication, both drugs and alcohol, cause severe injuries and deaths. Entering an exit ramp and resulting head-on collisions from driving the wrong way are common acts for those intoxicated and the elderly. The "Do Not Enter - Wrong Way" signage was designed for intoxicated drivers. Sad story. Good post.
