I am in the process of assisting sellers who did NOT obtain a permit with remodel. What a mess. If you’re planning a remodel or renovation don’t skip obtaining a permit. In Brevard County, Florida, you need a building permit for most construction, renovation, and major repair projects. This includes many common projects, such as: Renovating or remodeling homes Adding major additions Replacing windows and doors Installing swimming pools Working on plumbing, electrical, or HVAC Roofing projects You can apply for a building permit by: Checking your license status in the Brevard County Licensed Contractor Search Completing the Contractor Agreement to access online permit applications Submitting your application by email, mail, or in person You can call the Customer Service Call Center at (321) 633-2187 to schedule an appointment. You might need to hire a licensed contractor for your project. In Florida, you need a state contractors' license to: Construct a building or structure, Make structural alterations to load bearing walls, and Perform plumbing or air conditioning work. You can check the documentation requirements, inspections, and conditions for your project with the Brevard County Planning and Development Department.
