Workshop4Me a.s.b.l is launching an initiative coined Codeutainment – a mix of coding and entertainment, with the support of Digital Luxembourg, Ministère d’État, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in collaboration with the University of Luxembourg. It is an educational and fun event for children with their families. The objective is to make children understand computer science and its practical applications in an entertaining way.

An evening of Animations, Funfacts and live performance just like your favourite movie with Popcorn and Drinks! Careful of flying drones live!

 

Leave your computers, tablets behind at home! Limited onsite translator volunteer for English to French or German will be available.

Computer Science Education week - An Hour of Code 2017 | #Coding #Luxembourg #Europe | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it
Workshop4Me in collaboration with Microsoft Luxembourg is pleased to invite you to celebrate Computer Science Education Week being celebrated all over the world this year between Dec 4 - 10th.


This event is meant for children 6 - 13 year olds who would like to try out coding in a fun way with characters whom they love : Steve and Alex from Minecraft & Moana.


They can be complete beginners who have never tried coding before OR those who love coding and want to challenge themselves to see if they can complete the entire session within an hour.


The event includes a tour around the Microsoft offices in order to see how cool a technology company is, meet with the people who work here and listen to their stories.
The event will be held in ENGLISH. Participants are requested to bring their own tablet/laptop that can connect to the internet. Wifi will be available.


Tentative agenda :
5:30 – 5:50 pm : Registration
5:50 – 6:00 pm : Introductions
6 - 7 pm : Hour of Code activity
7 - 7:20 pm : Break for snacks, soft drinks
7:20 - 7:35 pm : Microsoft Office tour
7:35 - 8:00 pm - Stories from Microsoft Team on how they got into coding and Summary

Madhumalti Sharma et sa fille Avanti ont crée une «école» de code pour les enfants - une passion qui se transmet dès le plus jeune âge


La famille Sharma est originaire d’Inde, ses membres ont voyagé dans plusieurs pays avant d’arriver au Luxembourg il y a neuf ans pour le travail. Madhumalti la maman a commencé à coder à l’âge de 15 ans. Elle a transmis sa passion à ses enfants: «Mon père était un ingénieur électrique, il m’a transmis son amour des sciences et j’ai commencé à coder à une époque où ce n’était pas aussi évident qu’aujourd’hui, j’ai appris seule, mais je trouvais ça amusant. Les parents se plaignent que leurs enfants jouent trop aux jeux vidéo, qu’ils sont finalement très passifs.

 

Mais plus ils comprennent comment ça marche, le mieux c’est. C’est comme apprendre une nouvelle langue. Je voulais transmettre cette passion à mes enfants. Nous ne devons pas être passifs face aux nouvelles technologies, il faut se les approprier, je pense que c’est très important».
