Tidal’s Discovery service lets independent artists upload music directly

Tidal’s Discovery service lets independent artists upload music directly | Soundtrack | Scoop.it
Streaming service Tidal has announced Tidal Discovery, a feature allowing independent artists full control over their music and data.

Daniel W. McNamara's curator insight, February 19, 2017 5:07 PM

Fact magazine published an article  in 2015 about Jay-Z's streaming service, Tidal. Tidal created a new feature that would allow independent artists to upload their music directly, circumventing third party distributors. This was written to inform audiences and maybe to promote Tidal.

Tyqwan Harris's curator insight, February 23, 2020 7:19 PM
Tidal has created a way for small growing artist to upload their music. This another way that independent artist are able to make their stamp in the industry without having to relay on a label. Factmag is a magazine which was created in 2003. With a long and standing history of putting the music first. They originated in the UK and is respected all over the world.
Jeremy Todd McConnaha's curator insight, April 24, 2022 11:39 PM
Artists like Jay Z who have stayed relevant for years paving their own way are creating ways for independent artists to cut out the middle man and create less need for a label or at least a major label to release material. Independent artists are way more in control now than ever before. Maybe not totally out of the picture, but on their way out as artists are becoming more self sufficient and the industry makes it more convenient and easy to get your name out to the masses.

Apple's new Apple Music compared to Spotify, Xbox Music, Google Play Music and Tidal.
Christopher Coleman's insight:

Looks like Spotify is the way to go ... unless you love Ms. Swift.

PS - RDIO doesn't even get a mention?

Travis Schooner's curator insight, June 13, 2015 2:35 PM

Conclusion to my appeal is here. A chart listing features of commonly used Music Streaming services. Here you can see the pro's and con's to Apples new service a long with the competition's.

Maya Jackson's curator insight, November 30, 2015 11:52 PM

This article compares Apple Music to other apps that stream music as well. Though it did give insightful information, it was not persuasive enough to make Apple Music my primary means of streaming music.
