Facebook is seen by many as the ultimate social media marketing platform to engage with your customers and prospects. Nearly 1 billion potential customers are using it, providing you with the means to reach and engage with all of them.

Promotional activities seem to center around a singular, focused social media marketing objective of increasing Facebook “likes”. Often all other social media and marketing strategies are ignored because of this obsession. The longer term tactics of content creation, optimising for search engines and building email lists are forgotten in the “liking” acquisition frenzy.

Studies show that four basic emotions combine to create our experiences. Here's what that means for the way content is shared online.
Bart van Maanen's insight:

Interessant artikel over waarom mensen dingen delen via internet.

Shiv Batta's comment, May 9, 2013 10:47 PM
It has become clear that social media is turning into quite the process. It’s becoming more and more important, so many different tools and advice columns keep popping up to help businesses and individuals stay organized and successful when it comes to this newer marketing effort. This has caused many companies to create a full-time social media position for experts to help manage the many social accounts, follow analytics, get creative with engagement, etc. It takes a lot of time and effort, but the payoff is only increasing as social involvement increase.

Why Brands Must Embrace Visual Social Media in 2013 [infographics]

Why Brands Must Embrace Visual Social Media in 2013 [infographics] | Online tips & social media nieuws | Scoop.it

Two infographics provide data and tips to explain why brands must leverage visual social media in 2013 to stay relevant and grow.

Today, the marketing world is still hot on the social media marketing trail, but the trail has diverged. There are different paths with cheerleaders along the way no matter which path a marketer follows.

Ideally, marketers should find the path down the middle that marries all of the elements of social media marketing, but most are not there yet. Many of today’s marketers are still choosing a single path to focus on or jumping back and forth.

For example, those paths include the data and metrics focus, the storytelling focus, the visual focus, and more. This article hones in on the visual focus with the help of two great infographics that visually share the data and tell the story of visual storytelling...

Interesting the part about 'How are shoppers using their Smartphones?'- I have done every single one of those things. Also things like customer reviews on social websites- I definately will post on Facebook Business pages if I really like, or dislike a product. It really is important to be able to connect with your customer, especially for things such as products that are below a persons expectations. Social Media makes it so much easier to get it sorted out faster and in the public eye, which shows the brand in a poitive light.
