Great article. I strongly believe that no matter which leadership theory you prefer, there are some basic characteristics for any leader: humility is definitely one of them.

5 Ways to Lead with Emotional Intelligence -- and Boost Productivity - Forbes | Information Technology & Social Media News | Scoop.it

More emotional intelligence, is what our world strongly need. This excellent post say all what you need to know about this subject. [note Martin Gysler]

Employees today are much more aware of whether or not they are a good fit in their workplace culture and they want their leaders to be more mindful of their needs. In general, employees have become more sensitive about how to best co-exist in a workplace environment that allows them to be who they naturally are.

Employees are tired of playing games and just want to be themselves. As such, they are managing their careers and looking to advance by searching for jobs that truly fuel their passion, fulfill their desires, and ignite their real talent. For most, today’s economic landscape has made the career management journey extra challenging. And beyond career advancement opportunities, people want their supervisors and leaders to be more in touch with who they are as people (not just as their colleagues) to assure that their career track is in proper alignment with and supports their personal and professional goals.

SUNDAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Goal.

SUNDAY’S LEADERSHIP MANTRA: Goal. | Information Technology & Social Media News | Scoop.it
Everyone wants to be successful and, some people would do all to achieve it (...).

A good tool for success is certainly, the goal. As Brian Tracy say:

Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement” Brian Tracy

what makes me say that this topic is sufficiently interesting and important to linger a bit.

All of these goals that will lead us to success!

Introduction

Beyond the basics of goal that he should be SMART: Simple and Specific | Measurable | Achievable | Realistic | Time limited and which is known to most of us, I would like add the emotional meaning of the subject.

Indeed, the act of setting goals is often linked to an emotional process:

  • From needs who are deepest in us;
  • an ambition to be this or that;
  • Or an ego, oversized, who plays tricks on us;

and many other factors.

All these elements combined can significantly change the logic of things and lead us sometimes on unsafe paths and strewn with pitfalls.

When should we have a goal?...

Some aspects of organizational culture are visible on the surface, like the tip of an iceberg, while others are implicit and submerged within the organization. Because these ingrained assumptions are tacit and below the surface, they are not easy to see or deal with, although they affect everything the organization does.

What Does it Take to be an Amazing Leader?

What Does it Take to be an Amazing Leader? | Information Technology & Social Media News | Scoop.it

In my work as a startup founder over the last few years, I've been fortunate enough to find myself surrounded by some incredible young leaders, be mentored by a few wise executives, and spend time

Susan Taylor's curator insight, November 21, 2013 5:58 AM

We are living in a world of profound complexity and unprecedented change.  A world where things seem to turn on a dime.  So what does it really take to be an amazing leader today?  Shane Snow shares with us some of the patterns he has observed from the best leaders in his life.

  • Great leaders change their minds and do so often; they have the courage to admit when they are wrong.
  • Great leaders absorb shock; they are "the first to face danger, the first to battle; and shield the group from harm".
  • Great leaders overcommunicate; they confide in their followers, trusting them with all the information.
  • Great leaders think before answering; they do not feel the pressure to have instant answers to everything.
  • Great leaders search for the right path; not the easy path.
  • Great leaders have sacred time for themselves; they know that self-improvement and balance is imperative.
  • Great leaders are in it for others; they are motivated by the desire to help others.

If you are trying to become a better leader in your work and life, Shane Snow sums it up beautifully:  "Strive to be the kind of leader you would follow yourself."

Leadership: Will They Weep when you Leave ?

Leadership: Will They Weep when you Leave ? | Information Technology & Social Media News | Scoop.it
All of us know that people leave their bosses and not the organization. But the reverse is also true. People stay in organizations for their bosses. But these type of bosses are a rare phenomenon.

This is a great question.  Will they weep or have a party?

From the post on what great management leaders do:

They care  : In the corporate world,  sometimes we think that if you are caring and concerned about your team, they will take advantage.  The project manager/leader might be branded as a "soft" manager.  I somehow totally disagree with this. I think the managers who show emotional intelligence and care for their team, win them over for life.

A smile, a pat of appreciation soars the motivation of the team to the highest level.

Do you smile often ?

Do you remember their birthdays?

Do you speak encouragingly when you feel they are trying hard to meet the deadline but are facing some problems ?
