The Right Way To Grow A New Online Community: 3 Examples

The Right Way To Grow A New Online Community: 3 Examples | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it
Why do some communities thrive while others struggle to survive? Thousands of online communities sprout up every day but few of them ever take root. Among those that do, even fewer last longer than a couple of years. What's the secret here? Unfortunately, there's no surefire answer to that question yet. The best we can…

Leading Motivated Learners: Social Media: Perception Builder

Leading Motivated Learners: Social Media: Perception Builder | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

by Tony Sinanis

"Branding, which typically is a “business world” thing, is exactly what our schools need today! There is so much bashing of public education in the media today and the landscape of public education is not a pretty one but as educators - whether a superintendent, classroom teacher, support specialist, or the Lead Learner of the building - we still control everything that happens in our schools. And since we control what happens in our schools (even with state/federal mandates and policies, the final execution is our call) we know there are awesome techniques/approaches/etc. unfolding in our schools so let’s spread the word; let’s brand our schools; let’s fuel the perceptions; and let’s create our realities!"

Content Creation vs Content Curation: Is It Really An Either Or?

Content Creation vs Content Curation: Is It Really An Either Or? | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

There is no curation without original content. However, curators can expand the readership and help their niche find meaning and insight in the material as it relates to them.

There is too much information. The author explains that the real power of content marketing lies in the orginal content creation. Mixing curated content with your original content builds authority. There is a video "Is Your Content Good Enough To Be Curated"? That's where it is for all of us that write. Why would anyone curate my post?

Commentary first written by Jan Gordon "Covering Content Curation, Social Media and Beyond" and I adapted her commentary.

Thanks for this article. I agree with you that it isn't an either/or - you need to curate to create good quality content.

While this is nothing new to most educators, I did like the way that it stressed relationships over all else.  In the time of COVID, this has become a priority.  Good teachers have always known that connecting to your students is important.  The challenge is how to do that when you don't "see" them in person every day as you can't judge as easily when things are off or something is obviously troubling a student.
