This podcast has some really beneficial resources that could be used in any subject and not specifically related to science.
However in this insight I will be relating it to science and in particular what Nearpod has to offer a science teacher.
Nearpod is a platform that can be used by teachers and students to participate in collaborative student led learning that is interactive and set at the students pace.
Nearpod offers a variety of different resources to keep the students engaged in what they are learning and it sways from the traditional learning style.
Rather than having students write down word for word with pen and paper from a powerpoint projected on the wall, Nearpod offers quizzes, games, virtual reality tours and so many other resources that is not possible to do with just a notebook.
One of the features of Nearpod that completely blew my mind was the virtual tours. I am from a small country town and field trips aren't just like popping down to the Queensland Parliament precint for the day, we have to plan to be away for a minimum of 3 days and most of the time that funding just isn't available.
Nearpod has transformed learning in a way that it provides access to allow the students to feel like they are in a certain environment from the comfort of their own classroom, this can open up so many aspects of learning that just isn't possible to do by simply recording dot points.
Nearpod is a very powerful tool that I can see enormous potential for in my classroom to transform and redefine the way children learn in a modern classroom.

Nowadays, the language teaching process is not an isolated subject; on the contrary, teachers need to implement content to other subjects in order to teach a language in a meaningful way avoiding the traditional and grammatical classes. So one of the most uses subjects is the natural science for that reason, I like this website that provides interesting resources to implement in classes, and gives ideas for teachers who are starting to implement science in their classes. In addition, I want to mention that use engaging and interesting activities the students learn easily.

A Literacy-Based Strategy to Help Teachers Integrate Science Skills

A Literacy-Based Strategy to Help Teachers Integrate Science Skills | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it
Many elementary school teachers love to teach reading and writing, but are less comfortable with science and math. It’s not a hard and fast truth, of course, but learning to read is a big focus of the early school years, so it makes sense that teachers who gravitate toward elementary school like teaching literacy. But it’s also important to expose kids to science early and get them excited about the practices that define scientific inquiry. And literature may be the perfect starting point. Stories are full of tension, conflict and dilemmas that make wonderful departure points for engineering projects that weave subjects together.

No ink required: paper can be printed with light #news #science #school #university #book | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it
In an effort to curb the adverse environmental impacts of paper production, researchers in a new study have developed a light-printable paper—paper that can be printed with UV light, erased by heating to 120 °C (250 °F), and rewritten more than 80 times. The secret to printing with light lies in the color-changing chemistry of nanoparticles, a thin coating of which can be easily applied to conventional paper to transform it into the light-printable version.

The researchers, Wenshou Wang and coauthors at Shandong University in China; the University of California, Riverside; and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, have published a paper on the light-printable rewritable paper in a recent issue of Nano Letters.
