Exit Ticket Tools for Teachers

Exit Ticket Tools for Teachers | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
Exit tickets or cards are informal assessment tools teachers can use to assess students understanding at the end of a class. They can also be used for formative assessment purposes to help teachers design better instructional content based on students feedback. Exit tickets can take the form of a prompt or a question related to what have been taught in the lesson.

Four Tools That Take Blended Learning to the Next Level

Four Tools That Take Blended Learning to the Next Level | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
In any rush of new technology there comes fresh opportunities for learning and growth that were never possible before. We’ve seen this in the past two decades with blended learning, which combines digital media with traditional classroom methods to engage students like never before.

In all of the excitement to use technology, however, the real purpose of blended learning is often lost. Collaborating on a Google Doc is fun and convenient, but blended learning should be more than that.

Getting into Virtual Reality Part 1: Creating Virtual Reality Worlds

Getting into Virtual Reality Part 1: Creating Virtual Reality Worlds | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
Now another ten years on VR seems to be making another surge into the mainstream consumer market and the field of education. Whether it’s here to stay or not largely depends on how accessible edtech companies can make this to mainstream teachers and classrooms around the world and the ability of edtech companies to provide experiences that have genuine educational outcomes that match the kind of investment that will be necessary to enable students to access those experiences.

Want to Build an Educational App? Read This First

Want to Build an Educational App? Read This First | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

"Teacher-made materials have always been a part of classrooms. That’s because teachers can see better than anyone else what students need to understand a concept, especially if it’s an abstract one. As a result, teachers have made games and developed hands-on activities that support classroom instruction. The use of supplemental aids made from aluminum foil, manila folders, and other inexpensive household items is becoming a thing of the past, thanks to the availability of educational apps. What’s stopping a teacher from building an educational app? Not much. You can build an educational app if you do these things."

Using TallTweets to Create Gifs

Using TallTweets to Create Gifs  | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

Polly-Alida Farrington writes: "Amit Agarwal of Digital Inspiration has created many handy tools and shares great tips on his blog.  His TallTweets tool was originally created to create very long twitter posts. Enter your text and TallTweets parses it out into a bunch of connected tweets and posts them for you. Now that Twitter has added that feature, TallTweets has been repurposed to create gifs from Google slide decks."

Via Mary Reilley Clark
Mary Reilley Clark's curator insight, January 18, 2018 5:02 PM

I love this! And Polly's ideas for uses have sparked some of my own. What about creating a gif of book covers to display on your whiteboard while students are coming into the library for class? Or as she suggests, sharing introductory information or keywords from the presentation you'll be doing? (This would be great if you were  presenting about the impact of libraries to your school board! Think of all the images you could include!) Have students make one for a 10 second book talk!

I'm sure you can come up with a variety of ways to use TallTweets immediately!

Martha Bongiorno's curator insight, January 19, 2018 12:07 PM
Interesting ideas! I can see tying this into a literature circle or exit ticket of some sort.
GwynethJones's curator insight, January 20, 2018 8:15 AM

Interesting! Reminds me of the lesson I did years ago Tweeting a book review or Story in 140 -- guess I'll have to change that title, huh? LOL
