I find this article quite interesting, as it serves as a reminder that as teachers we need to keep innovating the way we educate.   We can't keep using the same archaic methods from the last century, by using technology we can achive bigger advances in not only investigation but also education.
Daniela Ibarra Osorio's curator insight, March 15, 2020 4:37 PM
Education has had a fairly notable evolution with the use of technology, recognizing that there are differences that characterize each individual and that by recognizing these differences we understand inclusion and along with it goes the technology that supports us to change in order to generate significant changes and challenges in learning, content, proximity and teaching. The future of education lies in teaching about creativity, innovation, problem solving and understanding that we are and are going for an era of evolution.
thelma.davila@yahoo.com's curator insight, September 19, 2021 12:34 AM

The article focuses on transforming the current educational system that was implemented in the 1900's using new technology integration. Technology has the ability to use differentiation in each individual student.

The Difference Between Technology Use And Technology Integration

The Difference Between Technology Use And Technology Integration | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
Using technology for learning makes sense. Technology creates access, transparency, and opportunity. Any smartphone or tablet is media incarnate–video, animation, eBooks, essays, blog posts, messages, music, games. The modalities of light, color, and sound all arranged just so to communicate a message or create an experience.

Alone Together

Alone Together | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
In this video, Sherry Turkle talks about how as a society today, we tend to rely heavily on and expect more from technology rather than each other. She discusses how people's use of technology has changed from the previous generation to the present one, which is currently growing up with technology. After interviewing several people, she was able to conclude that people were so focused on their digital lives that they were becoming less aware of their real lives. For example, she talks about how people would often text at inappropriate times, such as while driving or attending a funeral. I agreed with Turkle when she mentioned how people often depict their social media profile in a positive light, in order to make themselves look better, even though that is not how their life is in reality. I highly recommend watching this video, as it will make you more aware of what you put out there in the digital world, as well as reminding you that your real lives also matter.

Plagiarism, Internet and Academic Success at the University | Torres-Diaz | Journal of New Approaches in Educational Research

Plagiarism, Internet and Academic Success at the University | Torres-Diaz | Journal of New Approaches in Educational Research | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
In this work, we determined, the level of incidence of the use of technologies on academic success and the incidence of interaction and experience on the level of plagiarism of university students. A sample of 10,952 students from 31 face-to-face universities in Ecuador was created. Students were classified based on their experience level, level of interaction with teachers and classmates, and the use they do with technology for academic activities. The results showed that the level of experience does not affect academic success, but does have an incidence on plagiarism levels that increase as this experience increases. Plagiarism reaches higher levels when level of experience, family income and hours of connection per day increases. Academic performance depends on the number of hours that students seek information and the number of academic videos they watch. Also, plagiarism tends to decrease as the student makes better use of technology for their academic activities.

Insights From the 2016 ECAR Study – Blended Librarian | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it
We know that our students use technology. Lots of technology.

We know less about how they use it, what they use it for and the devices they use. We’d like to know more about how they use technology for learning.

That’s where the 2016 ECAR Study of Undergraduate Students and Information Technology can be most informative. This year’s report focuses on four areas of student technology use:

the importance of technology to students
the technology experiences of students
the technology preferences of students
the effects of technology on students
