The fine line between surveillance and supervision | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

‘See me’ used to be a dreaded instruction on marked homework, but in today’s classroom it would appear that the reaches of the new GDPR and admonishment from the ICO is far more feared – even when there has never been more of an appetite for ‘all-seeing’ technology that balances the needs for safety with new generational learning.

Top Edtech Trends for 2020

Top Edtech Trends for 2020 | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

Schools will soon be reflecting on what’s been working this year and what’s not. They’ll also begin thinking about their budgets for next year. It’s not too soon to look at what 2020 will bring in edtech trends.

Call for Diversity in Ed Tech Design - DML Central

Call for Diversity in Ed Tech Design - DML Central | Information and digital literacy in education via the digital path | Scoop.it

Rather than highlighting current research, the goal of the conference was to explore the future of the ed tech landscape through company pitches and think tank panels that focused on different areas of ed tech innovation. While the ed tech landscape isn’t known for its diversity, I was stunned at the lack of diversity in each session I went to. I was also dismayed as I heard the different people pitching and the think tanks discuss their imagined college student.

The ISTE conference isn’t the biggest edtech conference in the world by sheer luck. It brings together K-12 educators, companies, reporters, university professors, and students to talk about product announcements, implementation strategies and edtech trends.

This year’s gathering, spread over several hotels and the Denver Convention Center, drew over 15,000 people into to these conversations. We caught a few tidbits—take a look below.
