A new consumer protection law is set to give French insureds greater flexibility over policy cancellation, reports English language French newspaper The Connexion.
A new draft law has been put forward to the French cabinet. Measures included in the draft include greater freedom for consumers to change insurer more easily, a ban on pre-ticked boxes on online forms that automatically sign people up for add ons, a 14 day cooling off period for online shoppers (up from 7 days) and a provision for "class actions" (making it easier for groups of consumers to get together and sue a business collectively).
