What exactly is Permaculture? Well, this is today's garden tip. You may be wondering because you have heard the term and you may know it's related to farming and growing things. So permaculture is a fairly new term and was coined in the 70s by 2 Australians. Permaculture is a system of agricultural and social design principles centered around simulating or directly utilizing the patterns and features observed in natural ecosystems. So basically the idea of capturing the cycle of nature on a large scale and bottling it up to break it down to a smaller scale. So for instance, your farms or even smaller, your vegetable gardens can be their own eco environment. Having your own little ecosystem on a small scale. Here is the idea and how it can be done.
Lets take a look at this drawing by strawberry moon farm. The illustration shows how everything on the farm is working together and providing for each other. The other term that comes to mind is self sufficient. This is the whole idea, making a eco system that is not dependent upon the outside. Many preppers are using permaculture and so are farmers today. One who is self reliant does not depend on anyone else, namely the government for anything. Often times one who uses permaculture is eating the best organic food on the planet because its not pumped full of preservatives and chemicals. So there are a few advantages to permaculture and we hope this better explains the term. Is anyone using this right now? we would love to know. Its a great way to live off the land and off the grid. self reliance sustainability budget
