SEO and Popularity

SEO and Popularity | Digital Marketing Power | Scoop.it
It’s true that Google wants the most relevant and quality results at the top of their SERPs, but we can’t overlook the fact that they also want popularity. Your company might be the cool (and smarter) new kid in school, but those that are established and already deemed “popular” are going to stay at the top for a little while longer. This might not seem fair, but in the way of SEO there are really two ways to look at the dilemma. Read on..

What Is Your Company’s Digital Marketing IQ?

What Is Your Company’s Digital Marketing IQ? | Digital Marketing Power | Scoop.it

There is a continuing disconnect with people’s personal use of the internet and how they then apply digital marketing to promote their business.

The company CEO will use Google for researching and buying a new car but when it comes to optimizing his web site for ranking high in Google he struggles to see the value and perceives that building a website is all he needs to do to be “found online” and generate mountains of cash.

Ranking First Isn’t Enough to Get New Business

Ranking First Isn’t Enough to Get New Business | Digital Marketing Power | Scoop.it

Yes, I realize the irony of an SEO firm telling you that ranking first in Google and Bing isn’t going to make a difference for your business. Shouldn’t I be shouting the value of rank from the rooftops? Here’s the thing though, while ranking well is important (there are plenty of reports detailing the percentage of clicks the top ten sites get), it isn’t the only thing you should be worrying about. Today’s Internet user is smart; they know that just because a site is ranked first that doesn’t automatically mean it’s the best site for them. 1st ranked sites may get the lion’s share of clicks, but clicks do not automatically equate to conversions.

Google’s Search plus Your World’s Impact on SEO | Digital Marketing Power | Scoop.it

Google recently announced social search features with a mouthful of a name: Search Plus Your World. We’ve been hearing rumblings around the Valley that Google was working on big new features to integrate Google+ with search results and this has been an obvious evolution for the search engine ever since they released their new social network.

This new set of features will include posts, videos, links, photos and more from your friends on Google+. It is not yet rolled out to everyone but will be made available to those signed into Google+ in the United States over the next few days.

Forget SEO And Think Local

Forget SEO And Think Local | Digital Marketing Power | Scoop.it

I know the headline is a bit contradictory. Local search is still considered SEO by those near and dear to our hearts.

Maybe for you targeting people all over the world makes sense. I’m certainly not saying to forget it completely, but I read a lot blogs semi-regularly and you might be pretty well served if you started catering to your local audiences with a more grassroots marketing campaign.
