The Institute for Social and Cultural Research, part of NICH, had the Belize Intangible Cultural Heritage Workshop at the Banquitas House of Culture in Orange Walk last week, and Cayo was well represented. Antonio and Nalleli, along with the rest, are now certified Intangible Cultural Heritage guardians.
"UNESCO, the Belize National Commission for UNESCO and the National Institute of Culture and History launched an eight day National Workshop on Community - Based Inventorying of Belize's Intangible Cultural Heritage. The objective of the workshop is capacity building as part of the national implementation of the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH).
