Experiential learning new step is virtual reality
Diego Herrón García's curator insight, May 1, 2020 1:43 AM
VR education strikes as being an amazing tool for many things in the future, not only education. Although we need to wonder to what extent technology is beneficial and harmful for human beings, I think that we are not very far from the future in which we can attend a class or any type of meeting through VR. It is quite interesting how one watched movies that showed advanced technology that we thought was impossible to create or very far being real, but now it has come the time for VR. This type of technology will be great for those who cannot travel for multiple reasons because they will be able to explore some famous places around the world by using VR; although I feel that nothing equals traveling and physical interaction, VR will definitely make our lives easier in many aspects, such as Education and jobs. In the near future, one will not need to attend a class at a university or attend a meeting physically; instead, we will attend those meetings virtually by using an avatar or whatever it is. Since I am focused on language learning, I am looking forward to the day in which this type of technology is available for the common people so that we can learn languages by using this type of technology. I imagine myself being with my students in a certain place in VR and teaching them English while talking to them about the place and culture, it would be amazing. I think that VR will definitely change our lives forever because, once it is brought out for the common people, many things that we are used to do in our daily lives will become less often.

Take Your Students on Virtual Field Trips with This Google Tour Builder

Take Your Students on Virtual Field Trips with This Google Tour Builder | Augmented, Alternate and Virtual Realities in Education | Scoop.it

About Tour Builder

What is Tour Builder?

Tour Builder is a new way to show people the places you've visited and the experiences you had along the way using Google Earth. It lets you pick the locations right on the map, add in photos, text, and video, and then share your creation.

What inspired the creation of Tour Builder?

We originally created Tour Builder to give veterans a way to record all the places that military service has taken them, and preserve their stories and memories as a legacy for their families. But we also thought it could be a useful tool for anyone with a story to tell, so we made it available to everyone.

What are your long-term plans for Tour Builder?

For now, Tour Builder is in beta and we're excited to see what people build and do with it. We'd love to hear your feedback and ideas about how it could be a better storytelling tool. Take it for a spin and tell us what you think here.
