Randolph sign language interpreter adds a new dimension to `Oz’ performance

This year Dorothy, Toto, and the Tinman skipped down the yellow brick road into Randolph with a new friend in tow - Caitlyn McKiernan.
She is added a new element that goes beyond dancing, acting and singing to Randolph Theater Company’s rendition of “The Wizard of Oz.” She is interpreted the play to ASL (American Sign Language) for the hearing-impaired in the performance Saturday, Dec. 10.
Acting more as the Wizard than a character looking for a heart or brain, she is masterfully using her hands to express joy, sadness, surprise and other emotions to a diverse audience that may have not otherwise been able to hear the songs and sounds of the characters. Her unique tale of “dancing through her hands and singing through her fingers” is one of inspiration and importance.
