Clemens VII, geboren als Giulio de' Medici (Florence, 26 mei 1478 – Rome, 25 september 1534) was paus van november 1523 tot aan zijn dood. Hij was de opvolger van Adrianus VI.
Clemens VII werd geboren als Giulio de' Medici, de buitenechtelijke zoon van Giuliano di Piero de’ Medici. Hij volgde Lorenzo II op als leider van de familie de' Medici, maar deed in 1523 afstand van zijn functie om tot paus te worden verkozen. Daarmee was hij na zijn neef Leo X de tweede paus uit dit beroemde geslacht. Met de verkiezing van kardinaal Giulio de' Medici leek het alsof de gouden tijd van de' Medici was teruggekeerd. Clemens VII was echter veel strenger en ook plichtsgetrouwer dan Leo X ooit was geweest.

De mensen achter Italy here we.com (lezers van AutopEdizione) vierden dit jaar hun tiende Italië rit, wat ze zelf heel treffende ‘Una esperienza particolare’ noemen. Het draait bij deze vriendschappelijke jaarlijkse toertocht namelijk om de combinatie aan ingrediënten; Het begint allemaal met een groep fanatieke liefhebbers van de Italiaanse auto in het algemeen (net als wij), die elk individueel een sterke voorkeur hebben voor een specifiek model, dat ze met heel veel liefde koesteren. Bij voorkeur een auto die je maar zelden ziet en waarvan je de aantallen in Nederland op één hand kunt tellen. Vervolgens ga je met die auto tijdens het betere seizoen (het voorjaar) in colonne richting zuiden en bezoek je op het magische schiereiland een autofabriek, museum of natuurlijk de Mille Miglia, zoals vorige week.

Vicino Ascoli Piceno, ci sono luoghi dimenticati, immersi nella natura più selvaggia, in cui non è raro incontrare caprioli, cinghiali e (se siete fortunati) anche lupi. Come dico spesso, “ho visto più animali qui che nel Parco dei Monti Sibillini”. I boschi sono fitti e intricati: lecci, querce e castagni sono gli alberi che incontrerete più spesso; nel sottobosco, invece, tra l’interminabile manto giallo-arancio di foglie cadute, le felci sono alte e rigogliose. In questi luoghi vivono ancora delle piccole comunità; hanno edificato paesini arroccati su speroni di arenaria, sfruttando ciò che la natura aveva da offrire. Gli edifici sono costruiti in simbiosi con l’ambiente utilizzando le pareti, i declivi, i terrazzamenti naturali e sfruttandoli al meglio in un modo che oggi definiremo eco-compatibile. Vivere qui è possibile, ma con il passare del tempo è risultato sempre più difficoltoso. Così pian piano le frazioni di Acquasanta si sono andate spopolandosi fino ad essere abbandonate del tutto. Questo è il caso di Rocchetta. “L’antico centro rurale di Rocchetta, totalmente abbandonato dagli anni Settanta, si compone di varie costruzioni dalle caratteristiche architettoniche uniche. Il Borgo si sviluppa in altezza, appoggiando le fondamenta sulle molteplici terrazze naturali di arenaria, pietra tipica di quei luoghi. Le strutture sono perfettamente integrate con il territorio perché costruite sfruttando il naturale andamento delle pareti rocciose presenti, che, spesso, fungono da muro di perimetrazione creando dei suggestivi esempi di case-caverna. In questo modo i fabbricati, un tempo dimore, botteghe artigiane o stalle, si sposano armoniosamente con la natura circostante, tanto da disegnare un unico ambiente dove il confine tra la zona verde di incontaminato e quella “urbanizzata” sembra quasi non esistere.” Non sono molte le notizie che circolano riguardo questo paese. Le sue origini sembrano essere molto remote. Il suo nome compare nei capitoli dello stato di Ascoli e Norcia del 7 agosto 1255: Norcia cedeva a favore di Ascoli tutti i diritti che poteva accampare sul castello di Rocchetta...

Nederlanders zijn dol op Italië, voetbalwedstrijden uitgezonderd. Maar zoals wij onze partner de liefde kunnen verklaren in de naam van Valentijn of voor lang en gelukkig, zo lastig is dat naar een land. Wat maakt dat Italië en de Italianen als geen ander zoveel losmaken in Nederland en de Nederlanders? La Dolce Vita is vaak de eerste reactie, maar in deze drie woorden hartenkreet schuilt eerder marketing dan een ware verklaring. Il Giornale vond meer dan drie woorden tijdens een ware hartstocht.

Rijd de Chianti-route en lunch tussen de Italianen aan lange tafels in de boomgaard, proef olijfolie bij de boer, word wakker met zicht op de prachtige heuvels, geniet van het uitzicht vanaf de torens van de oude vestingstadjes en kom terug in Pisa om verder te kijken dan alleen die scheve toren. 
S.O.G.N.O. is mijn droom, de droom (sogno betekent droom in het Italiaans) van Hetty de Vogel. Met S.O.G.N.O. wil ik mijn grote passie en liefde voor Italie met name Apulië met iedereen delen; de gewoontes, tradities en natuurlijk het heerlijke eten.
