Screencastify - screencast on your Chromebook

Screencastify - screencast on your Chromebook | Digital Presentations in Education |
We have been waiting to be able to screen cast on a Chromebook for too long! This feature is now here, without complications or having to jump through hoops to get it to work.
Baiba Svenca's insight:

If you are a Chrome user, now you can create your screencasts directly in your browser using the new app Screencastify. The app is free and easy to use.

Look for the app on Chrome Web store.

Brian Romero Smith's curator insight, February 16, 2014 9:24 AM

This is a game changer. As we look into all we will want to do with a device for our 1:1 initiative, being able to screencast was a priority. Student being able to demonstrate mastery by teaching others a specific skill online is essential to our technology platform. This helps tip the scale a bit toward the ChromeBook side.

How to Record Your Desktop with VLC

How to Record Your Desktop with VLC | Digital Presentations in Education |
VLC is full of powerful features, including the ability to record your desktop. VLC is great for quick captures, although it doesn’t necessarily have the more advanced features of a dedicated screencasting application.
Baiba Svenca's insight:

Many of you may already know that VLC has a great screencasting feature but it came as a surprise to me. This popular media player performs many useful things including recording your desktop.

For a detailed tutorial read the post and remember that VLC is a free and reliable tool.

Ik zet 'm nu even bij innovatief. Opde ELO zetten om de 1e jaars te laten zien hoe ze een filmpje van hun eigen werk kunnen maken.

Baiba Svenca's insight:

An excellent website with screencasting info, rubrics and tool suggestions. There are resources to read about screencasting by teachers and screencasting with students.

Très utile pour se lancer dans les capsules !

Alison Rostetter's curator insight, March 26, 11:02 AM
I let my business class do presentations on screen-casting.  It gets them a speaking grade for the end of term.  The reason I do this is a) so they can get it out of the way whenever they have time - the deadline is fairly long and b) they tend to take more trouble over it than if it were just an ordinary presentation, in front of the class.
