The U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Treasury released details of the country's massive Paycheck Protection Program that helped businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

 

A total of $20.7 billion in loans from the program were distributed in Pennsylvania, protecting 1.8 million jobs, the SBA said in its most recent report on the program. The loans will be forgiven if businesses keep employees on the payroll.

 

In Newtown, 130 companies and organizations received loans for more than $150,000, including two that received between $5 and $10 million — the highest amount.
