Facebook thinks the Messenger mobile app has become too cluttered for its 1.3 billion users, and is rolling out a new version that addresses that complexity, plus lays the groundwork for its Stories ad business.
Facebook's simplified navigation and top and bottom tab menus are getting overhauled, the company has announced.
Today's five buttons on the bottom include Home, People, the camera button, Games, and discover. The new app will have just three tabs: Chats, People, and Discover.

Dropbox is building automatic text recognition into its service. Soon you’ll be able to search your documents even if they’re saved as images like JPEGs or PNGs.
In the post announcing the feature, Dropbox said that over 20 billion image and PDF files have been stored on its service, with between 10 and 20 percent of these consisting of photos of documents.
The company has previously used similar optical character recognition technology to scan text from its document scanner app, but this functionality will work on your existing files, regardless of how they were added originally.

OCR has for long been a valuable ally to Healthcare Tech professionals. Unfortunately the quality of OCR solutions has always been a talking point. It will be useful to see how Dropbox performs with scanned copied of handwritten bills and prescriptions... We will be closely monitoring this roll out and experimenting to see if if it can directly provide benefits to doctors and patients alike.

With 2.23 billion monthly active Facebook users, there remains a huge available audience. They may feel tantalizingly beyond your fingertips without paid advertising, but with the right strategies, you can still maintain and increase your organic reach.
Without question, the algorithm change is making it hard for Business Pages to get content seen. However, if you manage to make the algorithm work for you, there will be less competition and more opportunities as a result.

Facebook wants to prove that it has the technology chops to address marketers' brand-safety concerns — before something really bad happens.
The tech giant is rolling out new tools to monitor when ads might appear next to dicey content — think a graphic video or a controversial news site like Breitbart. While Facebook has stepped up its efforts to police content, including hiring 3,000 people to specifically keep content from being shared on the platform, brand safety is subjective for a lot of advertisers and many marketers have asked for more control around where their ads appearing.

The second circuit ruling supports a similar one from the third circuit – and, taken together, the decisions could pave the way for the Internet Archive's library of webpages to be considered evidence for countless future trials.
