Much of the focus of connected cars or autonomous driving is on details around how the car will be networked and avoid accidents along with various aspects of reliability and security.
If all that gets resolved, the marketing focus will shift to how to better serve the ‘driver’ in a self-driving car.
An early, rudimentary version of in-car video marketing can be seen in most New York taxis, where TV-type screens in the back seat play and promote to captive passengers, until they press the mute or off button.

If you’ve ever run a contest on social media, you know how powerful they can be.
For early stage profiles that are just starting out, a contest can offer a leg up to build an initial following. For large and established accounts that want an extra boost, contests can provide an enormous surge of participation and interest.
But the game in social media is always changing, so if your contests are going to continue to be effective, they’ll also need to change.

Google’s home services ads are finally showing on mobile. The ads for local service providers such as locksmiths, plumbers, handymen and, more recently, HVAC services and electricians, had been briefly spotted last month on mobile, but they now appear to be prevalent across the California markets where the program is active.
The mobile ad format features a swipeable carousel of listings that feature a map of the service area where the advertiser operates. Here are examples on iOS (left) and Android.

A strange thing happened just now when I was searching to find out whether the promotions extension Google is testing is also showing on mobile (it is). I came across an example of what appears to be a Showcase Shopping ad for the first time in the wild.
When Google introduced Showcase ads, the idea was to spotlight retailer collections on broad, non-brand search queries like “summer dresses.” One of the odd things about what I found today is that these examples are all showing on retailer brand terms, not broad, non-brand queries. This format appeared on brand+outlet queries: “talbots outlet,” “banana republic outlet” and “ann taylor outlet.”
