Jusqu’ici réservé aux traders professionnels, BitFlyer a lancé, lundi, sa plate-forme d’échange de cryptomonnaies en Europe: son application est disponible sur tous les stores.

Il y a 21 mois, le 23 janvier 2018, BitFlyer annonçait avoir obtenu une licence d’établissement de paiement de la part de la Commission de surveillance du secteur financier , aux côtés du ministre des Finances, Pierre Gramegna .

Ce lundi, la plate-forme d’échange de monnaies cryptées a annoncé le lancement de son application, BitFlyer Wallet , pour l’Europe, et depuis le Luxembourg.

Airbnb a placé le Luxembourg en huitième position des endroits à visiter en 2020. Un classement basé... sur la hausse des réservations effectuées sur la plate-forme.

Un peu de publicité ne peut pas faire de mal. Mais le classement qu’Airbnb a publié cette semaine sur le top 20 des lieux à visiter en 2020 ne va pas chercher très loin: pour établir sa liste des destinations conseillées, la plate-forme américaine de réservation d’hébergements entre particuliers a pris la croissance des réservations comme indice de référence.

Avec 167% d’augmentation sur un an, le Luxembourg se retrouve donc en huitième position.

Am Ende des vergangenen Jahres beschäftigte der Luxemburger Staat 28.326 Menschen. Am Dienstag (22.10.) präsentierte der zuständige Minister Marc Hansen zum ersten Mal Statistiken zu seinen Mitarbeitern.

“Gleich am Anfang habe ich bemerkt, dass viele Zahlen fehlen”, sagt Marc Hansen, der zuständige Minister für den Öffentlichen Dienst. Das hat sich nun geändert. Im vergangenen Jahr gab es handfeste Änderungen bei der “Personalabteilung” des Staates. Aus der “Administration du personnel de l’Etat” (APE) wurde das “Centre de gestion du personnel et de l’organisation de l’Etat” (CGPO). Nicht nur der Name änderte sich. Die Verwaltung soll zu einem richtigen Dienstleister für den Staat werden. Innerhalb des CGPO gibt es eine Zelle, die die Mitarbeiter des Staates statistisch erfasst. Zum einen habe der Staat als Arbeitgeber so Zahlen zu seinen Arbeitnehmern, andererseits können die Zahlen nun regelmäßig der Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung gestellt werden.

NASA and LSA to further deepen US-Luxembourg co-operation in space (22.10.2019)
Communiqué par: Luxembourg Space Agency In May 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Space between the Governments of the United States of America and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg designated both NASA and LSA to exchange information about prospective collaboration. Based on this MoU, NASA Administrator James. F. Bridenstine and LSA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Marc Serres signed at the 70th International Aeronautical Congress in Washington DC a joint statement of intent to further deepen US-Luxembourg co-operation in space.

Administrator Bridenstine and Chief Executive Officer Serres acknowledged the steps taken in the United States and in Luxembourg to advance opportunities for the commercial use of space. They noted that these developments have set the stage for fruitful collaboration in areas of mutual interest, particularly in the context of NASA's priority on returning humans to the surface of the Moon by 2024 through the Artemis program, and its plans to establish the basis for a long-term human presence there by 2028, with a view towards human exploration of Mars.
They also underlined the potential these initiatives have for space resources exploration and utilization as well as for private sector entities and public private partnerships to contribute to the exploration and utilization of the Moon, Mars, and other celestial bodies. Chief Executive Officer Serres emphasized that LSA places a great importance on its aim to contribute to the peaceful exploration and sustainable utilization of space resources for the benefit of humankind.

Étienne Schneider était ce vendredi en visite au centre d’entraînement des astronautes de l’ESA à Cologne. Après avoir découvert l’European Astronaut Centre, le vice-Premier ministre a annoncé la construction future d’un centre de recherche spatiale européen au Luxembourg.

À Cologne – Le vice-Premier ministre Étienne Schneider (LSAP) était en visite à l’European Astronaut Centre (EAC) de Cologne ce vendredi. Une journée de découverte qui s’est soldée avec une annonce importante pour le secteur spatial. Le ministre a en effet annoncé son intention de jeter les bases d’un centre de recherche spatiale au Luxembourg d’ici quelques mois.

Du concret pour fin 2020
Pour l’heure, le projet est encore en phase de discussion avec l’Agence spatiale européenne (ESA), le List, l’Université du Luxembourg et d’autres institutions. Le ministre espère pouvoir proposer un projet concret dans les 6 à 12 mois, comprenant une localisation précise, un budget et une liste de tests à mettre en place dans ce centre. L’objectif étant d’apporter un plus par rapport à ce qui se fait déjà. «Il faut trouver un équilibre entre ce qu’il est possible de faire financièrement et les projets importants que nous voulons porter», précise Étienne Schneider. Ce centre de recherche pourrait déjà voir le jour d’ici fin 2020.

Digital technologies are changing the face of society, including how our financial services work.

Given how deeply digital technologies affect financial services, online payment platform PayPal, Luxembourg's National Research Fund (FNR) and the University of Luxembourg are launching a partnership, titled "PayPal-FNR PEARL Chair". The chair was presented on Monday.

The entire programme will be led by Professor Gilbert Fridgen. As of January 2020, Fridgen and his research team will examine financial services in a digital environment in detail. The team will analyse processes, as well as accompany and structure them.

As Fridgen explained, the team will focus on new technologies, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, putting a special focus on Blockchain and distributed ledger technology. He told attendees on Monday: "I will endeavour to find out what these technologies mean for the economy and for firms working in financial services."

Vor zehn Tagen hatten die E-Tretroller von Bird den Stadtteil Kirchberg über Nacht erobert. Jetzt muss das Unternehmen sie entfernen.

Auf der Städtekarte des Unternehmens Bird ist Luxemburg schon eingetragen. Eine von 25 europäischen Städten, darunter Berlin, London, Madrid, Stockholm und Wien. Dabei kam der Start vor zehn Tagen in Kirchberg einer Nacht- und Nebelaktion gleich. Ebenso schnell werden sie wieder von der Bildfläche verschwinden. Das hat Lydie Polfer, Bürgermeisterin der Stadt Luxemburg, am Donnerstag bei einem Treffen mit den Verantwortlichen von Bird gefordert.

Le Grand-Duché gagne une place par rapport à l’édition 2018 du classement mondial publié par le Forum économique mondial.

Le Luxembourg tire son épingle du jeu après la publication du classement mondial de compétitivité élaboré par le Forum économique mondial. Il termine ainsi à la 18e place alors qu’il oscillait entre les rangs 19 et 25 les années précédentes. Il se tient toutefois derrière l’Allemagne qui est 7e (-2 places), la France 15e (+2) mais devant la Belgique, qui obtient la 22e place.

«Parmi ses atouts, se trouve la forte présence d’une main-d’œuvre étrangère, souvent qualifiée, voire très qualifiée, qui représente 73% du marché du travail et place le Luxembourg, selon les dirigeants d’entreprise, comme un des pays où la main-d’œuvre est la plus compétente», indique la Chambre de commerce qui relaie l’information. «Les talents internationaux sont ainsi parmi les moteurs d’une place financière compétitive à l’international, d’une culture entrepreneuriale bien présente et d’un écosystème d’innovation en progrès.

Last month, Siemens Healthineers installed a new MRI scanner in a fully equipped container at the Centre Hospitalier Luxembourg (CHL).

This additional MRI scanner, the "MAGNETOM Aera", is designed to reduce waiting times for patients in Luxembourg. The scanner is the third of its kind at the CHL and the ninth in the Grand Duchy as a whole.

Built around a 1.5 Tesla magnet, the MAGNETOM Aera can be used for a multitude of exams, but will be used mainly for examinations of the bones and joints of patients who either do not require hospitalisation or only require a short stay in hospital.

Bird proposera 250 à 350 trottinettes électriques en libre-service à partir de ce mardi à Luxembourg-ville. Sur une zone très limitée pour l’instant.

La trottinette électrique en libre-service est de retour à Luxembourg-ville. Sept mois après la fin de Troty , l’américaine Bird a déposé ses engins, dans la nuit de lundi à mardi, dans une zone située entre le quartier du parking des Glacis et le bout de l’avenue John Kennedy, au Kirchberg.

Les Bird One, dernières nées de la gamme, ne seront proposées que sur cet axe, le temps de tester le marché et de «montrer aux autorités la manière dont nous voulons aborder le marché luxembourgeois», explique à Paperjam le directeur général de Bird au Luxembourg, Jonatan De Boer.

If you’ve arrived in Luxembourg and you already know you will need support for a medical condition – from a skin problem to an artificial heart valve – you can contact a medical specialist directly without going through your GP.

If you suspect you have a condition or need psychological support, a gynaecological examination or help with a bad back, you can also make an appointment with a medical specialist without referral.

Specialists operate through hospitals and clinics or on their own premises, and the costs of treatment and medication can be reimbursed by 80 to 100% by the CNS (the national health fund).

Ein Forscherteam der Uni Luxemburg hat einen sicherheitsrelevanten Fehler beim Scannen von Reisepässen aufgedeckt.

Forscher der Universität Luxemburg haben einen Fehler im Sicherheitsstandard entdeckt, der seit 2004 weltweit bei sogenannten elektronischen Pässen verwendet wird. Demnach können solche Pässe aus der Distanz ausgelesen und dessen Inhaber identifiziert werden.

Der Standard ICAO 9303 ermöglicht eigentlich das Scannen dieser Pässe an dafür vorgesehenen e-Pass-Readern, zum Beispiel an Flughäfen. Der Standard wird dabei von der Internationalen Zivilluftfahrtorganisation (International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO) vorgegeben und ist weltweit gültig. Er soll verhindern, dass gewisse Informationen, die auf dem Pass enthalten sind, miteinander verknüpft werden können.
