Confiant suite à son succès en Belgique et au Luxembourg, Payconiq vise désormais les Pays-Bas et l’Allemagne

Après le rachat de la société grand-ducale Digicash en août dernier, le service belge de paiement mobile Payconiq part à la conquête du commerce néerlandais et allemand.

Payconiq étend ses services vers l’Allemagne et les Pays-Bas. Le service de paiement mobile lance donc sa deuxième phase d’internationalisation après avoir racheté la start-up luxembourgeoise Digicash en août 2017.

Aux Pays-Bas, Payconiq a établi une coopération avec CCV, le leader du marché des terminaux de paiement afin de permettre aux commerces d’intégrer le paiement mobile dans leur système de paiement.

Belgian mobile-payment company Payconiq is set to acquire Luxembourg's Digicash Payments, a fintech startup developed in the Grand-Duchy from 2010 as part of a government-supported initiative. 

The Digicash system works in partnership with banks, shops, insurers and energy providers, among others, and its mobile app is used by one-quarter of the Luxembourg population.

The system enables users to pay in shops without the need for a card reader, a card or the incurrence of any additional fees, to transfer money to another account and to pay bills. 

With the acquisition, Payconiq, already active in Belgium and soon the Netherlands, will be active across the whole of the Benelux region.

Digicash rêve de faire disparaître le cash… mais son CEO, Michael Pechner, se livre sans détour au moment d’aborder la stratégie pour 2020: la croissance impose le passage à la marque Payconiq, qui a racheté la start-up luxembourgeoise il y a deux ans.

Raoul Mulheims, Georges Berscheid, Jonathan Prince et Mike Sergonne ont bien travaillé… mais ça ne suffit pas. La start-up qu’ils ont lancée en 2012, Digicash, application téléchargée 400.000 fois, qui compte 110.000 clients actifs, marque connue par neuf résidents sur dix, est devenue une vraie marque luxembourgeoise: l’utilisation a augmenté de 80% en 2019 par rapport à 2018.

«Il y a même un passage de l’utilisation de l’application au langage luxembourgeois. Aujourd’hui, si des gens se disent ‘on se fait un Digi’, c’est très positif! Ça montre qu’il y a une vraie valeur.»

Mobile payment service Payconiq is relocating its headquarters to Luxembourg as it seeks to expand in Europe.

The company, which handles online, on-the-go and direct payments, will move its HQ from Amsterdam where it was founded in ING's innovation hub.

"The relocation of our headquarters to the heart of western Europe is a new step in the development of Payconiq as a European payment service," said Duke Prins, Payconiq Chief Executive Officer.

The move comes after the company joined forces in August with Luxembourg fintech startup Digicash Payments, a mobile payments service offered by a number of banks in the Grand-Duchy.
