Si tratta di una vecchia varietà a bacca bianca, originaria del sud delle Marche come indicato nel bollettino ampelografico del 1875. Appartiene al gruppo dei “vitigni italici”, caratterizzato da un grappolo più o meno serrato, di medio piccole dimensioni, con un acino piccolo e uniforme dalla buccia sottile. The Frasassi Caves (or Grotte di Frasassi) is one of the largest subterranean cave systems in Europe. It was discovered fairly recently, in 1971, and has been open to public from 1974. Of the 18 kilometres of underground caves that have been explored, just 1 kilometre is open to guided public tours. Il violino dei poveri non fa parte della tradizione musicale antica della nostra regione, sembra infatti che sia stato introdotto, come altri strumenti, verso gli anni ‘50 del secolo scorso. Ancora una volta è probabile che sia il sud Italia, con la sua ricca tradizione, a offrire spunti rielaborati poi dai gruppi folkloristici locali. Dalle ricerche effettuate risulta che i primi nelle Marche ad utilizzare questo “violino”, chiamato poi segone o segò, furono dei gruppi caratteristici di San Costanzo e Fano situati nella provincia di Pesaro-Urbino. Cantiano is a little town in Le Marche, situated in the Apennine Mountains, 40 km south of Raffaello Sanzio’s birthplace, Urbino. As a toddler, Marco Massaccesi played in his father’s atelier, a workshop built on Marco’s grandparents’ land near beautiful Ascoli Piceno in the Marche region of Italy. When Marco was twelve years old, his father began to teach him how to work with leather. These lessons did not include modern assembly machines or other contemporary ways of quick manufacturing. Marco practiced and mastered the art of leatherworking using centuries’ old techniques. The world was a different place then, Marco recalls. The traces of an important pastoral civilization, which practiced transhumance, the seasonal migration of livestock, can still be found in the Sibillini Mountains. In recent years, however, the presence of shepherds in these mountain areas has significantly diminished. Guardians of techniques and knowledge, they were the ones who began making a local sheep’s cheese (pecorino) from raw milk. According to tradition, the curd was semi-cooked and the cheeses were aged naturally, turned every two or three days to encourage the formation of the rind. Narrow lanes lined with earth-hued houses climb up a steep hill to the powerful bulk of an early medieval fortress: the small village of Sant’Agata Feltria, in Le Marche, looks straight out of a fairy tale at any time of the year. In December, however, it becomes even more special because it turns into a miniature Christmas village. Piazza del Mercato becomes home to Father Christmas, his reindeer and his elves, drawing children from all over Le Marche and neighbouring Romagna, who flock to Sant’ Agata to hand their letters to Father Christmas’ own PA.
