Luca Agnani, Macerata: Videomapping from Le Marche | Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d'Italia | Scoop.it

Videomapping it’s a video projection technique that transforms a surface in a display. Using suitable software you create animations of the surface which are then projected. The final effect is an illusion in 3D, in practice it is the projection of a video.
Luca Agnani is s Digital lighting, 3d & Visual Mapping Artist born in Macerata in 1976.
Luca works for advertising agencies, organization of events, associations, municipalities and individuals, creating artworks for celebration of a place of worship or a monument, at the opening of a shopping center, or the opening night of a nightclub.
He was selected to lead his performances at major italian festivals including the Lpm of Rome, the Kernel Festival in Milan, Dancity of Foligno, the Robot in Bologna, Acusmatiq of Ancona and Barrakuda Festival in Croatia. Outstanding are his works on the front of the Arena Sferisterio during the week of culture, on the Duomo of Catania on the feast of St.Agatha, on the Mole Vanvitelliana of Ancona for the opening concert of Yann Tiersen and on the Sanctuary of San Michele on the occasion of receiving the UNESCO award. His works are mainly characterized by the absence of elements and closely related to architecture and its history.

Le Marche and its extraordinary art: The Polyptychs of Monti Azzurri

Le Marche and its extraordinary art: The Polyptychs of Monti Azzurri | Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d'Italia | Scoop.it

It was in central Italy that the Renaissance first took root. This great cultural explosion was not merely a school of painting, a style of sculpture or an architectural fashion, but an entirely new way of seeing the world.
In Le Marche numerous altarpieces in shape of polyptychs, panels, frontals, narrate the art, the faith, the culture, but also the fashion and life in a glorious and prosperous past. This internet site is a unique, despite is small, rich example of what Le Marche can offers in terms of art and culture of the Renaissance.

Sassoferrato and the Piccola Grande Italia Festival of little Municipalities

Sassoferrato and the Piccola Grande Italia Festival of little Municipalities | Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d'Italia | Scoop.it

Sassoferrato, 8000 people. Surely, this town will have a bar, a church, a woman who weaves on Sunday…

But no! There are 12 churches full of frescoes and fantastic art, a monastery called Santuario Madonna del Cerro, an abbey, a castle, and a very important archaeological site called Sentinum, which sits along the ancient Via Flaminia road system, not to mention quite a few museums, from art to archaeology to ethnography.

Things you might never get to see will be open to you during the Piccola Grande Italia festival on June 2, 2012. If I were you I’d go to Sassoferrato. There are some incredible treasures there, besides the ones I’ve pictured here (a scene from the Abbey and a mosaic from the archaeological museum).

The Borghese Gallery - Rome

The Borghese Gallery in Rome is one work of art contains many others; it is a treasure trove that was commissioned by Scipione Borghese during the 17th Century.
Scipione was a sort of talent scout during his day; it was he who offered enhanced fame and opportunity to both Caravaggio and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
The Villa in which the Gallery is housed hosts the largest collection of Caravaggios in the world, along with a great number of Bernini's masterpieces, from Aeneas and Anchises and the Rape of Proserpina to his sculpture of David and of Apollo and Daphne, among several others.
We also find here one of the most famous Canova statues in the world, the magnificent portrait of Paolina Borghese (Paolina Bonaparte).

Giovanni Santi, the artist Raphael’s father

Giovanni Santi, the artist Raphael’s father | Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d'Italia | Scoop.it
Giovanni Santi, Raphael‘s father, was not a bad artist himself. Although Giorgio Vasari in his “Lives of the Artists”described Santi as a “pittore non molto eccellente” – (not a very distinguished painter), he added “uomo di buono ingegno e e atto a indirizzare i figliuoli per quella buona via” (a man of good intelligence and capable of directing his sons along that good path). The curators of the exhibition, “Raphael and Urbino” at the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche in the Palazzo Ducale in 2009, think that Raphael learnt his trade from his father and not from Perugino.

List some of the places in Le Marche and elsewhere where you can see dear old Mr Santi’s work:

Cagli, San Domenico, Tiranni Chapel - Sacra Conversazione with the Resurrection of Christ - photo
Fano, Sta Maria Nuova - Visitation
Florence, Galleria Corsini - The Muse Clio
London, National Gallery - The Virgin and Child
Royal Collection - Drawing for The Muse Clio, “A woman standing before rocks”.
Urbino, Galleria Nazionale delle Marche - The Dead Christ supported by Two Angels

There will be also an artwork created by Roberto Alborghetti for his “Lacer/actions” art project among the pieces that will be in permanent exhibition at the “St. Francis Contemporary Art Museum” which is being born in Mercatello sul Metauro, a picturesque and fascinating medieval town in the centre of Italy (Marche region, in Pesaro Urbino territory).

This beautiful and praiseworthy initiative is carried out with enthusiasm by the local City Council and by Mayor Giovanni Pistola, by Pro Loco (tourism promotion association), by artist sculptor Pasquale Martini (curator of the Museum) and with the collaboration of the whole community, from families to schools, involved also in a particular campaign called “Adoption of an artwork.”

This extraordinary modern art collection (more than 150 pieces) will be kept in the ancient and medieval “St.Francis” convent now transformated in a beautiful museum centre and a reference point for art and culture. The opening of “St. Francis Contemporary Art Museum”is scheduled for September 2012.
