April 1 marks the day Medicare will start paying doctors less for treating beneficiaries under an automatic budget-cutting provision that took effect March 1.

The flawed Medicare pay system has increased doctors' rates by only 4% since 2001, even though the cost of operating a practice has risen by more than 20%, said AMA President Jeremy A. Lazarus, MD. Health insurance companies are making record profits during America's recession. Where do these profits come from? First, raising premiums on employers and individuals. Second, decreasing payment amounts and denying payments to providers which includes doctors and hospitals who are actually rendering the care.
The real money is in the pockets of the insurance companies and their executives as they ration care to the country.

Explorations of the health potential of Microsoft's Kinect gaming system have so far tended to focus on how it could be used to help rehabilitate patients.
But a new study suggests the Kinect could make a major impact in telemedicine, potentially cutting healthcare costs and reducing patients' hospital visits – and consequently the associated risk of infection.
The study's headline claims focus on the cost-saving benefits of the Kinect, which uses sensors to track body movements and register voice commands, but the technology could have wider-reaching benefits over existing telemedicine systems.
Writing in the International Journal of Electronic Finance, University of Arkansas' Janet Bailey and Microsoft's Bradley Jensen said gaming technology could be used to "teleport" the knowledge and skills of healthcare workers to where they are needed.
"The Kinect allows doctors to control the system without breaking the sterile field via hand gestures and voice commands with a goal of reducing the direct cost of healthcare associated infections to hospitals and patients," they wrote.

Most of us come into medical training having a pretty solid idea of the areas of practice that interest us. I knew I was going to do a specialty that involved surgery. I like to operate. What does that say about my personality? Lifestyle consideration were also huge for me as I decided my speciality would have to allow me enough leeway to have a family and see them. The top two factors that students listed as having a “strong” or “moderate” influence on their choice of specialty were personality fit and the content of the specialty, with 98% listing both of those. Three-quarters of students — who could select as many items as they believed were applicable — cited the influence of role models and work-life balance as significant factors.

This is what we all already know-we hate those ads we are forced to watch for 15-30 secs before we see the video we want. Its the same reason that we DVR shows or buy the season and watch it all at the same time.
We don't mind watching the ads of our choosing and feel more favorable about the companies ads we choose and are more likely to buy.
This is the concept of "pull" marketing verses 'push' marketing which is one reason that social media is so effective. With pul marketing the consumer that is your niche has already found and chosen you.

I find myself answering questions and issues of my followers and people I follow and I have gotten some very useful advice...in 140 characters.I love getting news with commentary in a few minutes of watching my feed. Bottom line; Be social and have fun.

Here I am a surgeon not knowing what suture material is appropriate outside of the area of the body that I am specifically trained in (Eyes). How do layman know what to ask for and how do you approach your surgeon and then understand his/her answers and reactions?

Giving a printed handout is just a starting point for patients to conduct research. I would recommend that health care providers include in their hand out at least 5 sites where patients can go to obtain comprehensive education about their conditions. Although many practitioners recommend theirown associates websites, these sites tend to be less than patient friendly in that the are not engaging or visually appealing. Better are sites that are meant just for consumer and have high quality information.

There is so much information on the internet these days but seems to me it getting harder and harder to find high quality accurate information in many areas. With every search comes thousands of recommendations based on how Google sees the world yet I find myslef digging very deep to find the quality information because the individual who produce high quality contents are not savvy enough to get the information onto the top of a Google search.
Great marketing will continue to winover great content and thus the knowledge and opinions of the populace can be easily swayed and bought when you spinkle the right mix of words and tags into your content

Everyone is busy so personal emails must be short and contain no more than 2 points or questions to increase the likelihood that there will b a response.
Now for emial marketing when the goal is to get the receiver engaged and ultiately to buy, longer emails are necessary to introduce and explain.
