Humans are easily distracted. Smartphones, gossip, social media, substance abuse, endless email, mindless web browsing, too much TV, video games, unnecessary meetings, bargain hunting. When done in excess, these activities zap you of energy, productivity, a willingness to serve and ultimately, fulfillment.

You’ve probably experienced the frustration of being distracted at work. Perhaps you were pulled into a never-ending Slack discussion, and when it finally ended you struggled to focus on the task you were working on. Or a coworker criticized you, and now you can’t stop replaying his comments in your head.
These habits can’t eliminate all of life’s distractions, but they will help you start off your day strong and in a better place to focus.
Everyone wants to be more productive. For me, morning habits are the most adaptable and useful habits to focus on.
