Con un vergognoso ritardo, i riflettori internazionali si sono accesi sul conflitto sanguinoso della Repubblica Democratica del Congo. In seguito alla conquista di Goma da parte dei ribelli del Movimento del 23 marzo, la stampa internazionale,tra cui quella italiana, ha iniziato a occuparsi di quanto sta avvenendo nelle regioni orientali del Congo. I titoli sembrano ripetersi: “Fallimento dell’Onu”, “Tragedia umanitaria”, “Guerra di depredazione delle ricchezze minerarie”, “La corsa al saccheggio”, e così via. Following the recent clashes that shook the city of Goma and the surrounding area in North Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), businesses and public transport have gradually been getting back to normal in the last two days. The lull has given the ICRC, working closely with the Red Cross Society of the Democratic Republic, an opportunity to gauge the scale of people's needs and to provide emergency aid.

Recently it has been dubbed rising, hopeful, the continent of the future. But Africa cannot be declared successful until its vast, rich heart, the Congo, is peaceful and prosperous.
