Barco and Vidyo Demonstrate High-End 4K Immersive Video Conferencing and Collaboration System [PR]

Barco and Vidyo Demonstrate High-End 4K Immersive Video Conferencing and Collaboration System [PR] | Video Breakthroughs | Scoop.it

Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, and Barco, a pioneer in visualization technology, today announced that a joint effort to integrate Vidyo’s award-winning software-based video communications platform with Barco’s innovative imaging solutions is on display at InfoComm 2012.

This week, the companies are unveiling a technology demonstration which conveys the integration of these two platforms: the first 4K immersive video conferencing and collaboration system. The integrated solution offers unprecedented flexibility, multi-modal content display capabilities, with richmulti-pointHDvideo communications. The system enables flexible layouts on a single screen and displays up to 16 high quality streams totaling 8 mega pixels – including ultra-high resolution data sharing up to 3 megapixels . Barco’s complete 140” virtual canvas offers this unlimited layout flexibility at the highest resolution for participants, content or both on the same screen. The demonstration will take place at InfoComm 2012 in Las Vegas, June 13 – 16, Booth # N2721.

Dialogic and VoipSwitch Create Open Videoconferencing, iOS App

Dialogic and VoipSwitch Create Open Videoconferencing, iOS App | Video Breakthroughs | Scoop.it

Communications company Dialogic has partnered with VoipSwitch, a subsidiary of Voiceserve, to create an open-standards mobile videoconferencing system.

The video solution incorporates VoipSwitch's Vippie SIP-based smartphone voice calling app with the Dialogic BorderNet 500 Gateway, which lets clients make Internet calls from anywhere.

The experiment, however, isn't meant to be a final product, but a jumping off point for other developers who appreciate the open standards approach.

Dialogic is now working on Flash-based plug-ins for the system, says Mushkin, which will greatly expand its features.

ITU and ISO/IEC Adopt UCI Forum H.264/MPEG-4 SVC Profile Recommendations

ITU and ISO/IEC Adopt UCI Forum H.264/MPEG-4 SVC Profile Recommendations | Video Breakthroughs | Scoop.it

The Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCI Forum) today announced that the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has reviewed and approved a set of video coding profiles developed by the UCI Forum. The UCI Forum submitted these profiles to the ITU for inclusion in the Scalable Video Coding (SVC) design for its H.264 Advanced Video Coding (AVC) standard. A corresponding adoption of the same profiles into the MPEG-4 Part 10 AVC standard has also entered into the approval process of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

H.264/MPEG-4 Scalable Video Coding (SVC) interoperability is a key area of focus for the UCI Forum. These profiles and the resulting ITU/ISO/IEC standard will play an integral role in the UCI Forum’s interoperability certification for SVC-based video systems.

SVC is already implemented in enterprise-class videoconferencing solutions from a number of leading vendors including RADVISION, Teliris and Vidyo, with the intent to implement SVC on the roadmap for companies like LifeSize, Microsoft and Polycom. However, current SVC implementations are not fully interoperable, and therefore a standard needs to be defined in order to certify interoperability scenarios.
