Register for the ISTE SIG event on UDL, AIM and AT: Complementary Supports for the Achievement of All Students on September 11th, 4 pm PT / 5 pm MT / 6 pm CT / 7 pm ET.
Joy Zabala from CAST will lead this presentation on UDL, AIM and AT. She currently the Director of Technical Assistance for CAST and for the National Center on Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM Center) funded by the Office of Special Education Programs, US Department of Education. The AIM Center provides knowledge development, technical assistance and leadership to assist state and local education agencies and other stakeholder increase the quality, availability, and timely delivery of accessible instructional materials to K-12 students with disabilities that hinder the use of widely used educational materials. She is a strong advocate of UDL, AT and AIM as complementary supports for the achievement of all students.

"Starting March 20th, 2012 (1 week from Tuesday), PATINS will begin a new online video series on Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM), Assistive Technology (AT), UDL and other collaborations with Indiana service providers. Many of these videos will be LIVE broadcasts and they’ll always be during lunch at 11:45am EST! They will all be short (15-minutes) and practical/applicable to your districts, schools, and classrooms right away."

From the National Center on Instructional Materials, the PALM Initiative was launched to ensure that materials used in the classroom are designed to be useable by all students from the start.
"PALM Beliefs: > No student should be denied the right to a high quality education > All education settings should be accessible to every student > All materials, in all settings, should be useable by every student from the start > Schools cannot rely on parallel delivery systems or on costly and difficult accommodations
PALM Objectives: > Bring accessibility into the lexicon and daily activities of educators and others who purchase learning materials > Increase the number of educators who are seeking and purchasing materials that are useable by all students from the start"
