The article explore the differences between the two "mediums". Stressing the fact that "VR’s biggest strength is also its greatest weakness. The immersive nature of VR hinders users from interacting with their surroundings. [It]  has already started to revolutionize the way we watch content, but will never be the technology we turn to in our everyday lives."


Whereas AR brings layers of info on our daily lives, the tech has not delivered yet due to the issue of visualization. But "Microsoft is working on HoloLens AR headset glasses. Developer kits are scheduled to hit the market in early 2016. Google invested in a company called Magic Leap, whose technology beams lasers into the viewer’s iris to activate AR. That future will become a reality in another year’s time."

The AR narrative - show, don't tell.  AR is almost impossible to tell someone about if they haven't seen it.  The technology is getting better but AR is only just touching it's potential to create user value beyond the 'new and thrilling' factor.  Helpful to see the range of applications and think about how AR can significantly impact/disrupt current behavior and support human goals while minimizing the physical burden of tech devices.

The implementation of the Augmented Reality tecnology in the architecture field present the possibility of changing for the best the way architects interact with their clients, allowing them to understand in a more compreenhensive way the building and the funiture they are paying for. This tecnology will also allow the client to take their house with them and present it to any friend or family, creating a feeling of affection for the build even before it is built.

We could indeed ask whether online gaming isn't augmented reality's future. I'm not an expert with AR but it seems to me this promising technology is taking time to find massive scale applications. Not unlike voice recognition. Maybe gaming is the way to make it finally happen?

This article looks at the google glasses and the possiblity of creating an Augmented reality where you can turn ANY real life environment into a 'battlefield' for first person shooting games just by wearing the glasses.

 

I think the fun factor of being able to turn any environment you want into a 'map' to game on and then play a first person shooter in it could definetly make this extremely successful. This could definately be the future and next level of gaming.

 

Although this new way of gaming could be extremely fun it may not be appealing to all gamers and/or porffesional and competitive gamers who prefer to be inside in a relaxed position instead of having to be physically active for long periods of time while they game.

 

This could be an issue as to how succesfull and widespread this new form of gaming will be with a lot of people not wanting to have to be physically active while they game. This could hinder the success however there could still and probably will be a huge market for this type of gaming with how immersive and interactive it is.

 

Theres also huge possibilities with advertising with this sort of gaming aswell.
