Like I do at this time every year, in the last few weeks I've fielded a bunch of questions from readers who are moving into new jobs at schools that use Google Workspace for Education. And while I have a lot of Google Workspace tutorials available on my YouTube channel, I think it's time that I update many of them. That's why this week and over the next few weeks I'll be publishing some new Google Workspace for Edu tutorials. This week has been all about Google Forms. 

In a video that I made last week I mentioned that the vast majority of my videos don't get more than a few hundred views. But there are some outliers. The biggest outlier is my simple video about the basics of creating a quiz in Google Forms which has received nearly half a million views. Last fall I published a video and blog post about using QRCode Monkey to make QR codes for Google Forms. Doing that makes it easy for students to quickly access your Google Forms from their phones. In my school a lot of teachers are using QR codes to give students quick access to things like lunch menus, sign-in/sign-out forms, and activity registration forms.

FormLimiter is an excellent add-on to use with your Google Forms. It allows you to create forms that automatically self-restrict responses at a pre-specified time and date or when 'a spreadsheet cell equals a value'. Next time you want to share a time-bound assignment with students, use FormLimiter to specify a timeframe for accepting responses after which students wont be able to submit new responses.

YouTube Studio has an interesting analytics feature that shows you what people are searching for on your YouTube channel. It will also show you something called a "content gap." Content gaps are terms that people have searched for but haven't found good content to match their searches. "How to make a Google Form" was a content gap that was identified on my channel. About a month ago Google announced that they were finally adding an autosave option to Google Forms. This new features lets students leave a Google Form and then come back to it later to finish answering the questions on it.

If you  use Google Forms in your instruction, the add-ons below will  be helpful. They do the same job, that is, they allow you to automatically send email notifications to respondents of your Forms. While Form Notifications by Google is pretty basic and simple to use, Email Notifications by Digital Inspiration offers way more features and functionalities especially its premium version. You may want to try them out and see which one works best for you.
