This is a post for a friend of mine who will remain nameless who recently shared on Facebook how stressed she was when her bookmarks disappeared from Firefox. My suggestion to her was to start using Diigo orEvernote to bookmark her favorite websites and video clips. In the video below I provide directions for using Diigo in Firefox.

Social bookmarking is an online phenomenon that has seen the light in the last few years particularly with the outburst of web 2.0 technologies or what author Will Richardson calls the read/write web. To put it simply, a social bookmarking service is a web tool that allows you to not only bookmark web documents (as traditional bookmarking did) but also to annotate, edit, tag and share them with others. Social bookmarking can also be a collaborative endeavour in which a group of users share links with the same tags.
Last night on Twitter Rick Burkett asked me for a suggestion on how to efficiently share with his faculty members the apps and sites he discovers. One of my suggestions was to use Diigo to automatically post bookmarks to an existing school / staff site. I knew thatVicki Davis does this on a regular basis so I referred Rick to Vicki. This morning Vicki shared a video that she made about how to automatically post Diigo links to bookmarks to your blog. That video is embedded below.
