Many orphanages are opened by Christian missionaries as yet another instrument of conversion, in the name of doing social welfare. But in fact, many families, especially children are exploited in these institutions. Parents feel compelled to give their children up for a better life, only for their children to end up abused by the people who are supposed to take care of them.Â
