8 SEO Google Ranking Signals in 2017

8 SEO Google Ranking Signals in 2017 | Daily Magazine | Scoop.it

SEO Usual Suspects

This Marketingland.com post shares 8 SEO "ranking signals" that won't be a surprise to anyone who knows search engine optimization. There is an interesting 2017 take on these "usual suspects" SEO ranking signals.

Posts like this always make ranking sound abstract and apart from the content you create. Not so much actually. Content is impossible to manipulate, Jack, or force round pegs into square holes. Better to do what you do well, share that passion and look for others who care about what you're doing.

Remember not all visitors are created equal. About 1% of your visitors want to help IF YOU ASK THEM. Another 9% are willing to join and support with links and shares IF YOU ASK THEM. So you can bet what our next advice is going to be - ASK FOR HELP.

Look at how HBX asks for ambassadors right on their home page.

We would add a user-generated content ask and award the same points currency they are mining now, but you can see the beginnings of a good ambassador program - something every website needs these days.

Read this SEO post to brush up on your "ranking factors" and never forget you aren't creating content for SEO. You create content to share passion, love and create movements others want to join. SEO is just something you do because to not do it is stupid.

Effective Teacher Professional Development - paper by Linda Darling Hammond et al.

Effective Teacher Professional Development - paper by Linda Darling Hammond et al.  | Daily Magazine | Scoop.it

Teacher professional learning is of increasing interest as one way to support the increasingly complex skills students need to learn in preparation for further education and work in the 21st century. Sophisticated forms of teaching are needed to develop student competencies such as deep mastery of challenging content, critical thinking, complex problem-solving,

effective communication and collaboration, and self-direction. In turn, effective professional development (PD) is needed to help teachers learn and refine the pedagogies required to teach these skills. However, research has shown that many PD initiatives appear ineffective in supporting changes in teacher practices and student learning. Accordingly, we set out to discover the features of effective PD.

This paper reviews 35 methodologically rigorous studies that have demonstrated a positive link between teacher professional development, teaching practices, and student outcomes. We identify the features of these approaches and offer rich  descriptions of these models to inform those seeking to understand the nature of the initiatives.

Thinking about Thinking Optimizes Learning

Most teachers know that if students reflect on how they learn, they become better learners. For example, some students may think and process information best in a quiet library; others may focus better surrounded by familiar noise or music. Learning strategies that work for math may be different from those applied in the study of a foreign language. For some, it takes more time to understand biology than chemistry. With greater awareness of how they acquire knowledge, students learn to regulate their behavior to optimize learning. They begin to see how their strengths and weaknesses affect how they perform. The ability to think about one’s thinking is what neuroscientists call metacognition. As students’ metacognitive abilities increase, research suggests they also achieve at higher levels.

Metacognition plays an important role in all learning and life experiences. Beyond academic learning, when students gain awareness of their own mental states, they begin to answer important questions: How do I live a happy life? How do I become a respected human being? How do I feel good about myself? Through these reflections, they also begin to understand other people’s perspectives.

The Raspberry Pi works great for prototyping, but going from Pi to production is a many-step process. Agreement on statistical transfers of renewable energy amounts between Lithuania and Luxembourg | #EU

Agreement on statistical transfers of renewable energy amounts between Lithuania and Luxembourg | #EU | Daily Magazine | Scoop.it
The European Commission congratulates Lithuania and Luxembourg for the first ever cooperation agreement on the statistical transfer of renewable energy amounts as stipulated in the Renewable Energy Directive. The agreement signed today (26 October 2017) helps Luxembourg achieve its national renewable energy target for 2020 by receiving a statistical transfer of a specified amount of renewable energy produced in Lithuania. Lithuania reached its national renewable energy target for 2020 in 2015 and aims to further develop renewable energy in its economy.

This agreement shows that these cooperation mechanisms give EU Member States greater flexibility to reach their renewable energy targets, providing them with a useful tool to jointly develop renewable energy potential in a mutually advantageous way.  In this way, countries with more cost-effective and abundant potential in renewable energy can help other countries reach their national targets, as well as help the EU as a whole achieve the 20% renewable energy target in 2020.

New report shows digital skills are required in all types of jobs | #EU #Europe #ICT

The European Commission has just published the final report of the study "ICT for Work: Digital Skills in the Workplace" on the impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) on the transformation of jobs and skills.

The evidence shows that digital technologies are used in all types of jobs, also in economic sectors not traditionally related to digitisation e.g. farming, health care, vocational training and construction.

Today the studies about how to grow in different jobs are important for us as teachers, since we also prepare students to face laboral life. This study show something that is evident but not many people are prepared to recognise it, ICT is neccesary in every job, including teachers, How much is going to take till we open our eyes to the new age that includes technology? when we do it, we are going to increase productivity and as teachers we are going to increase students' interests, views and knowledge

"Based on an in-depth analysis of the literature and informed by a small network of experts, the paper identifies and operationalises an integrated model that consists of seven over-arching ‘action-oriented' dimensions which show how to transform schools into learning organisations: Developing and sharing a vision centred on the learning of all students. Creating and supporting continuous learning opportunities for all staff. Promoting team learning and collaboration among all staff. Establishing a culture of inquiry, innovation and exploration. Embedding systems for collecting and exchanging knowledge and learning. Learning with and from the external environment and larger learning system. Modelling and growing learning leadership. In short, a school as learning organisation has the capacity to change and adapt routinely to new environments and circumstances as its members, individually and together, learn their way to realising their vision."
