Zapier’s team service brings task automation to the enterprise - VentureBeat

Zapier’s team service brings task automation to the enterprise - VentureBeat | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
Zapier has set its sights on the enterprise, launching a service that extends accounts beyond individuals to include entire teams. Not only can Zapier’s workflow automation recipes, called “zaps,” be managed by multiple users, the service grants additional administrative controls for IT departments.

The new service is called Zapier for Teams and costs $250 per month, with unlimited users and up to 50,000 zaps per month. Some teams may have had access previously through a beta program, but now it’s widely available.

With more than 1 million users, this IFTTT competitor realized many people were automating tasks for teams through individual accounts. This isn’t an efficient process, and it presented Zapier with an opportunity.

Zapier vs. IFTTT: The Best Tool for Task Automation - TechnologyAdvice

Zapier vs. IFTTT: The Best Tool for Task Automation - TechnologyAdvice | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
When comparing Zapier vs. IFTTT, you’re not exactly comparing equals. IFTTT is free, but comes with some of the complicated issues you’d find with any open-source tool. The number of connections it provides makes it a great choice for folks who want to automate their home and simple data chores, or for small businesses that can trade a little time for the price of a free product. Zapier is a business-oriented tool meant to help speed business processes. That means most of its integrations are made for sales, marketing, and IT.

Both of these tools build their models on third-party connections, so keeping those connections current and backfilling information when the connections break will present itself as your newest maintenance task. In the long run, you’ll find that refreshing your connection every so often is a small price to pay in exchange for all those manual tasks you no longer have to think about.

Automation Showdown: IFTTT vs Zapier vs Microsoft Flow - Lifehacker

Automation Showdown: IFTTT vs Zapier vs Microsoft Flow - Lifehacker | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
The Verdict: IFTTT Is Best for Most People, Zapier’s Great for Business Users, and Avoid Flow for Now

The winners here are pretty easy to declare. If you’re a casual user looking to automate a few basic things, go with IFTTT. If you’re a business user, or you’ve been using IFTTT for a while and wish you could do more with it, then go with Zapier.

IFTTT is powerful enough for most people, but more importantly, the massive database of pre-made recipes work like an instruction manual for how to use it.

You can look through “popular zaps” on Zapier too, but it’s not as intuitive or fun to browse. Implementing the popular zaps you find isn’t as easy either. Regardless, if you want to tweak, fiddle, and futz about with the specifics of triggers and actions, Zapier’s the webapp you want. That’s all beside the fact that Zapier’s extensive amount of enterprise apps makes it the obvious choice for anyone who uses niche business software.

We’ll cut Flow some slack here because it’s a preview build, but it’s still pretty hard to tell why it exists in the first place, or why Microsoft even released it in this state. At a glance, it works exactly like IFTTT, but in an extremely limited capacity. It doesn’t add anything new to the table other than Wunderlist integration, which is easy enough to get around by using any of these hacky integrations on IFTTT. Right now, there’s no reason to use it other than pure curiosity.

Zapier launches Multi-Step Zaps to automate more of your tasks - VentureBeat

Zapier launches Multi-Step Zaps to automate more of your tasks - VentureBeat | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
App integration startup Zapier today announced its biggest product news in years. The biggest part of the news is a feature the startup calls Multi-Step Zaps. One Zap, to use the company’s term, is a way to do something in one application when a specific thing happens in a different application — so Multi-Step Zaps are strings of Zaps, sort of like the complex contraption on a Mouse Trap board.

In other words, now Zapier can do a bunch of things for you in one shot. For example, every time I post an article on VentureBeat using our WordPress content management system, Zapier could a) tweet out the article with an image, b) add a new Trello card about the article, c) save the image to my Dropbox account, d) put the article in my Pocket, and e) mention the Trello card in Slack. Until this point you could have set up each of these integrations one by one, but now you can configure this assembly line of tasks all at once.

To go along with Multi-Step Zaps, Zapier is also introducing two of its own apps. The Code app allows users to roll up their sleeves and write code to get exactly what you want out of a Zap. The Formatter app offers easy-to-use tools for adjusting data, such as a date, to meet your needs.
