Lead Generation: How Adobe generated a 500% lift in conversion by changing its webinar strategy - Sherpa | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it

Summary...

Britton sat down with Daniel Burstein, Director of Editorial Content, MECLABS, to discuss how starting in 2010, the team took a closer look at the structure of the webinar program at Adobe and changed the overall strategy of webinar content, invites, landing pages and follow up process. Through this transformation, the team discovered by starting with a "solutions" webinar instead of a "product" webinar, prospects gained value from the best practices learned rather than product demonstrations.

In this webinar, you will learn:

    • How marketers can tell if a webinar attendee is sales-ready, or not
    • How free trials fit into Adobe's webinar program
    • How to provide quality content that leads to a sale
    • What is the best way to invite people to a webinar
    • How far in advance to promote webinars to your audience

Marteq's insight:

It's about 30 minutes, but I don't think you have to sit for the full 30 to fully understand the complete makeover. Alternatively, you can download the slides to this presentation.

Webinar Benchmarks, Trends, and Best-Practices - Profs | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert

Webinar Benchmarks, Trends, and Best-Practices - Profs | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it

Introduction...

Promoting a webinar more than seven days before the event can increase audience size 36%, even though most registrants sign up within a week of the scheduled date, according to a recent report by ON24.

In addition, the study, which was based on an analysis of more than 2,300 webinars from 500 organizations, found that sending a final email within 24 hours of the start time can increase registration 37%.

Marteq's insight:

I've done a ton of webinars, and if I've learned anything, it's these two facts:

  1. The more targeted the content towards the more targeted the audience, the greater the attendee to registrant ratio.
  2. The value is in the capture of the registration. Quite often registrants cannot attend when desired, but they've already expressed interest in the content. That's a targeted for nurturing.

Using marketing automation to maximize your webinars — Eloqua

Using marketing automation to maximize your webinars — Eloqua | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
Marketers tap a variety of communication and engagement tactics across all channels to build relationships and interact with prospects and customers.

Excerpt...

Here are 6 tips to leverage marketing automation for your next webinar:

  1. Trigger event excitement- Send an interactive asset to registrants, such as a video or podcast, highlighting the theme of the event, to get people excited about the content and encourage social sharing.
  2. Collect Q&A information- Record the questions asked by attendees during a webinar and integrate that data into your CRM to provide sales with deeper intelligence and context for follow-up calls, and to further qualify the opportunity.
  3. Segment your audience into groups based on key attributes, such as industry vertical, geography, or specific preference. This helps you refine your message and understand which prospects are most likely to convert and why. Segmenting can help reduce list decay and shorten the buy cycle.
  4. Build drip email campaigns to help move webinar leads from one stage to the next, and progress to conversion. Integrating automation with your webinars offers greater visibility into buyer stage, so you can improve your tactical approach.
  5. Match your content to your channel or target your invitations to people who you know have expressed interest in your topic. Rather than focusing on the need to cover a ton of ground, focus on exploring one topic in detail to support sound prospect education.
  6. Score the names generated from webinars- This will support your sales teams so they don’t have to waste time placing calls to the wrong leads. While many names sourced through webinars are early stage, lead nurturing will ensure those names are cultivated over time and scoring will ensure that they automatically get routed to the right person for follow up when the time is appropriate.
Marteq's insight:

You could probably substitute "webinar" with "trade show", "event", etc. Tips on how to best leverage MA to get a few layers deeper, and begs the statement "we should really get smarter on webinar marketing."

Infographic: When Do People Register for Webinars? - Marketing Technology Blog | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
Here are 4 Tips for Improving Your Webinars
  • Webcast attendees procrastinate. 64% register the week of a live webinar. And webcast producers should always do a “day of event” promotion blast to get last-minute registrants, as 21% register on the day of the webinar.
  • TGIF! Send promotional emails on Tuesdays, since people register on Tuesdays more than any other day — and more than twice as many as on Fridays.
  • Think bi-coastal. Most ON24 webinars start at 11 a.m. Pacific Time, when it is convenient for both coasts, thereby increasing registration and attendance.
  • Anytime viewing. On-demand viewership is growing. ON24 benchmark data show that an average of 25% of those who registered for a webinar prior to the live date viewed the archived version of the event.

Marteq's insight:

We have found different results, but that may be a function of the outbound and inbound marketing activities. From an outbound perspective, we have found that over 60% of the registrants come from the first mailing conducted three weeks out, and then incremental jumps with each weekly mailing.

I partecipanti al tuo Webinar quando preferiscono registrarsi?
Questa è una super chicca, che ho rintracciato anche un report molto particolare di ON24.
Chissà se si può applicare anche agli Italiani!

LucaVanin's curator insight, January 12, 2015 5:07 AM

Three alternative webinar formats that work | @HeinzMarketing

Three alternative webinar formats that work | @HeinzMarketing | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it

Condensed...

Gone are the days when webinars required complete PowerPoint presentations, or even hours of content prep time….It just means that quality and value for both the audience as well as the presenting company can often be generated with far less work, simply be getting a bit more creative about the format. For example:

  • The Group Panel: Pick a topic that’s of value to your intended audience, and invite a handful of experts to come talk about it. Prepare some questions and expectations in advance (come with examples and not just theory, for example), but otherwise find a great moderator and let the conversation drive the value.
  • The Moderated Q&A: Pick a good enough expert and you’ll drive attendance from people who want to ask that person their own questions.
  • The Double-Box Video Chat: Same idea, slightly different format. Instead of worrying about stock images that represent the topic you’re covering, put the moderator and expert (or panel) right on screen.
Marteq's insight:

Three tremendous alternatives from Matt Heinz to the now-staid .ppt-driven webinar. We've used the Group Panel before, and it drove far greater attendance and engagement.

DocuSign's targeted LinkedIn InMail strategy creates 3 large pipeline opportunities | MarketingSherpa

DocuSign's targeted LinkedIn InMail strategy creates 3 large pipeline opportunities | MarketingSherpa | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it

Summary...

The topic for this B2B social media case study is familiar: LinkedIn. The overall strategy and goal are also familiar: Use third-party validation from customers for thought leadership and brand awareness, and build an online community around a specific target audience.

The twist comes in the actual channel used to execute this campaign. DocuSign took what might have been a pretty standard email effort, and instead of using its email database, it utilized LinkedIn to send a series of sponsored InMails from its webinar speakers. Read on to learn the results of this marketing effort.

Marteq's insight:

A different approach to using email marketing to drive registrants. What we don't know from the article's results is if it compares favorably to other webinar registration drives, i.e., this one drove 3.5% conversions, but what were past registration rates? May be worthy of testing.

How Much Do Your Webinar Attendees Remember? - ClickMeeting

How Much Do Your Webinar Attendees Remember? - ClickMeeting | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it

Key points covered...

Here are some tips to help attendees absorb and retain your educational webinar content.

1. Keep it bite-size

2. One idea at a time

3. Minimize distractions

4. Relate to existing knowledge

5. Leave time for processing

6. Be practical

Talk about how to use your ideas in real life. People remember what they implement.

7. Set reasonable goals

Too much information can be overwhelming, and attendees may stop trying to assimilate it.

Marteq's insight:

Very practical advice. We want to add this:

  1. Repurposing content goes a long way to reinforce memory, e.g., the recording of the live event, posting the deck to SlideShare, creating a blog post, creating a white paper, etc.
  2. Age impacts memory, i.e., different age groups go about remembering differently.

Although the infographic is from last year (a reminder from Unbounce), it continues to beg the question: are webinars falling out of favor?  They continue to be a strong part of the content marketing effort, and should be done on a regular basis.  We know it's a pain, but well worth it:

  • your audience reacts to worthy topics with registrations
  • it's the basis for leveraged content, e.g., white papers, slideshare decks, podcasts, video, etc.
