Is Email still relevant to Millennials? - Smart Insights Digital Marketing Advice

Is Email still relevant to Millennials? - Smart Insights Digital Marketing Advice | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
Millennials continue to use emails, especially for more formal matters and for communicating with brands. However, do make sure that you adapt your campaigns to this specific target group and bear in mind the following points:

● Content personalisation: Tailor the content of your newsletter to each subscriber as far as possible by using all the information you have on them.
● Multi-channel Millennials: Combine social media (branding and entertainment), email (offers and information) and your website (transactions) for optimum results.
● The right moment: Investigate when would be a good time to send your emails to your subscriber and react accordingly.
● Responsive is not enough: Design with mobile in mind and understand how your message should be conveyed on a mobile device
● TL;DR # @: Use special characters carefully and try using a short summary at the end of long posts.

Marketing To Millennials Is A Mistake - Marketing Insider Group

Marketing To Millennials Is A Mistake - Marketing Insider Group | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
Trusting a business is huge for the younger generations. They’ve grown up with more scams and misleading advertising than anybody before, so they are naturally distrustful of businesses. Things like an authentic marketing personality, transparency, useful customer support and reviews are more important than ever.

Take the time to actually identify and address their needs and concerns. Stay consistent to your brand and approach them how they want you to be approached. A healthy dose of humor is great, but shouldn’t be the only way you market to them. Instead of looking at trivial ways to connect, like memes and emojis, find ways to be extremely helpful to your consumers.

The biggest take away here should be is to not market to the millennials, but to people. Treat them with respect and actually put the effort to understand them. By doing so, you’ll avoid alienating the largest consumer base of all time and earn their respect. The sooner you realize that millennials is just a name for an age group and start identifying real demographics, the sooner you’ll be finding success with them.

Having said that, Predictive killed the Persona.

How Can Marketers Reach Millennials? By Speaking Their Language - Salesforce

How Can Marketers Reach Millennials? By Speaking Their Language - Salesforce | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
Some things to keep in mind:

Know thy audience. This is the beginning of everything for your brand. If you haven’t done your research, how are you supposed to know who your audience is?

Create original, memorable content. In my book Think Big, Act Bigger, I ask the question, “What’s your 118?” That’s the number of seconds you have to pitch – 8 seconds to hook people and 110 seconds to reel them in. On social media, it’s more like “What’s your 15?” A few seconds of genuine engagement can be a difference maker for your brand.

Get personal. Go back to ‘know thy audience.’ The audience you’re trying to reach likes personal stories because it gives them the feeling that the brand wants to genuinely engage. And it makes the brand feel personable and approachable.

Gain traction by being exclusive. Traditionally, coupons, discounts and offers gain a lot of traction, so any time a brand uses a word like “exclusive,” it gives people an air of importance that will encourage them to act – and do so quickly.

Digital Transformation for B2B Marketers and the Generational Path to Purchase - V3B

Digital Transformation for B2B Marketers and the Generational Path to Purchase - V3B | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
When moving from an analog corporate mindset to embracing digital transformation, B2B marketers often struggle. They are marketing to increasingly younger and/or increasingly tech-savvy buyers, who also come into the buying process incredibly well-informed. The traditional sales-led process has transformed to a marketing-led one, and a marketer’s job is to understand every facet of the customer path to purchase. That means anticipating customer needs, understanding the way they find information on products or services they need, and the channels and resources they use to do that, and crafting messaging that appeals to them and which draws them in and, once there, a user experience that satisfies.

Marteq's insight:

As you know, B2B selling to each generation is quite different.

Study: Millennials prefer Facebook, video for B2B research FierceCMO

Study: Millennials prefer Facebook, video for B2B research FierceCMO | The MarTech Digest | Scoop.it
B2B millennials are playing an increasingly large role in purchasing decisions, a role that will only grow larger moving forward. New research shows that millennials prefer video content and channels like YouTube when researching B2B products and services.

"B2B Report: Millennials" from Sacunas polled 2,000 millennials on their B2B buying habits and what is important to them when making purchasing decisions, and unsurprisingly found that they are decidedly digital-first.

More than half (56 percent) of responding millennials said that digital channels such as search engines, vendor websites and social media are the most important channels for researching new products and services, according to the report. Mobile devices are also playing a big role in their B2B research processes.
Marteq's insight:

And there's greater than a 50-50 chance your potential purchaser is a millennial.
