Munich’s Allianz Arena will stage Germany’s first-ever regular-season NFL game later this year, while Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park has also been selected to host games in the coming years. Each stadium will host two games over the next four years.

msalvatelli@worcester.edu's curator insight, February 16, 2022 12:45 PM

In recent years the NFL has done a great job trying to expand its audience globally. They have done this by having regular season games held in countries outside of the US including games in Mexico as well as London. Both of these games and venues have been a huge success for the league in building a following outside of America. The NFL has recently announced that Munich’s Allianz Arena will be the host to Germany’s first-ever regular-season NFL game later this year. Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park has also been chosen to hold games in the upcoming years. Each of the two stadiums will host two games over the next four years. The Allianz Arena game will be one of five international games played by the NFL in 2022, with one in Mexico and three in the UK. This will be by far, the most international games held in one year for the league. The teams will be selected in the upcoming weeks as the NFL schedule is released.
